I need to get a new rear view mirror (the old one was stolen) and am trying to figure out the right part to order. I think it's this: 5029067AB for my 2005.
But this part doesn't seem to have the red blinking security light on it that my old one did. Which gets me to thinking... was that something a previous owner put on himself? It would flash on/off slowly when the car was locked.
Does anyone else have a red blinking light on their mirror?
Thanks!

It looks like you are correct with that part number and it is the same for a 2008 model year. There are only 3 parts to that assembly; the mirror, the "button" (I think it's the part that is glued to the windshield and the mirror attaches to) and the screw that locks the mirror to the button.

Great, thanks guys!! I guess I'll just go ahead and order that part with the assumption that it will have the red indicator light.

Well, I finally got the mirror (05029067AB) that I ordered, and while it seems mostly the same, it does not have that red blinking light:

The connector has 2 "blanks" where the 3-post connector is supposed to go:

So, I'm left pretty confused as to why my old mirror and this new mirror don't match. It's not like life has to end because I don't have the red blinky light, but I would like to at least understand what's going on here.
Does anyone have a clue as to why my original mirror had this red light and this new one (supposedly the same part number) does not???

Well what do you know. Apparently item #4 "05029051AA 1 27 LAMP, Indicator" is actually the theft indicator lamp and it is separate.

Wow, mystery solved, thank you! For some reason, I remembered it as being on the mirror itself, but obviously my memory wasn't quite right.
Ordered!!

Let's hope this is the right part, getting low on ideas!

Why the hell did someone steal your rear view mirror?

Somewhere there is a pretty fly white guy with that mirror attached to a gold chain around his neck.

Because of my Valentine1 radar detector mounted to the mirror stalk... :(
It was stupid of me to leave the car in the parking lot with the top down. But it was here at work and I didn't think it had that bad of a crowd passing through here. Ugh.

Just to close this one out, I got the new blinky light piece, plus I was able to find a replacement connector that plugs into the back of the mirror. The old connector was torn off during the violet yank of the mirror off the glass by the scumbag who stole it.

From the service manual, I was able to ID the 3 wires:

And finally, with everything installed, hooked up, and working again.

It's funny how I remembered the light being on the mirror but it's actually next to the windshield. I guess I was remembering my old BMW 7-series... :)
Thanks to everyone who helped me get this one figured out!

Anyone know how to remove the security light to change it out? Simply slides off?
Thanks
