View Full Version : REAR Boomerang Stone Guards

A little heads up, the Stone Guards are available from both Woodhouse and DSE.
As promised we are close to releasing the rear stone guards. I originally did not think they were needed, however, my car has approx 10,000 miles on it and the rear fender inner lips are sand blasted to the point where they are unsightly and need to be repainted. Both the front and now the rear Boomerang stone guards accomplish several things:
1. On a new car they keep the painted inner part of the fender from getting destroyed.
2. If you already have damage, they hide the damage and stop it from getting worst.
3. Items #1 and 2 are accomplished in a very non-intrusive way, the Boomerang Stone Guards blend in and sort of disappear.
If you have not followed the original Boomerang thread, the only reason I decided to build these was that I could not stand how the front sills looked after a few thousand miles. Just an opinion, but, these should be considered a must on a new car.
I want to run these a couple of weeks on my car and see how they hold up, at that point it will be about 30 days to have product for sale. These will mount using two of the OEM screws, no drilling required.

I want them all now, lol, hell I'm happy to test those rears too ;-)
I guess I'll call Mark and buy fronts, pre-order rears would be great so I don't miss out on the first run and have to wait.
I had these type guards on my gen3 and 4 and they were a savior.

I will start the process of programming thm into a CNC machine in two weeks. As soon as the drawing is done, it will be interesting to see if we can do carbon fiber.

What kind of testing did you do with respect to their size / coverage? I only ask as at first I expected they might be a bit bigger?
thks

I agree these can probably be quite a bit larger and still not be too obtrusive given that they are situated so low on the car.

I started a little larger, but, the sight line was not right. I want to see how these work, so I am trying to get some miles on the car. I am going to increase the outer circle by 3/4 in to see how they will compare.

Not sure what the cost would be for that and they would probably looked ruined very quickly. I think you're better off wrapping it with a carbon fiber wrap (costs virtually nothing) and it will look like the real thing. No one will know the difference on a small piece that goes in the wheel well.

I put 300 miles on the car with only the drivers side having a rear stone guards, here are the details:
1. I guess I never looked close at the damage to the area behind the rear wheelwell. With just 10,000 plus miles, it needs a repaint. There are a large number of stone chips right down to the base material
2. The rear stone guard pictured on this thread protects most of the underhang behind the wheelwell. Therefore, nĂ² reason to go larger. The underside of the unprotected side showed a horizontal dirt pattern from tire tire debris hitting the underside, The protected side was dirty, but, no sign of tire sandblasting.
3. I started the CNC drawing/programming process. It will probably be two weeks before I get a prototype part. If it fits the car, it will be another two weeks for production parts.

So Jack B, Woodhouse, and others who are working on a product, this product sounds great and a no brainer. Should have come standard or as an option from the Dodge. In any case, I think everyone here would like to know the price that each is offering and the variances between the products. If all are in prototype phases without exact details, no worries. But if you have the info, please let us know. If the price is low enough, I can't imagine a situation where every owner doesn't buy one!

Even if it's $100, it's still worth the money because sending your rear bumper/fascia whatever it is back to prefix to get it repainted sure as sh*t will cost you more than that.
I put some Road Warrior Pro on that area for now but eventually, the stone guards will be a better solution.

I think it is a great 2nd level of protection, after expel. My expel also, covers the inner fender well lips with a cut-out around the fender lip screws.. 4,200 miles, just like brand new. Behind all tires, it looks perfect.

If you have to ask the price you probably can't afford these. J/k They should be similar in pricing to the fronts I would assume.

The cost will be close to that of the fronts. The costing will be done next week. The only thing that could change the price is the percentage of waste there is per sheet with the rear design.

Exactly. My expel protects the inner lips as well so it's just another layer of protection. Maybe worth it for the right price.
