I just had these mounted today, it is a very unique thread (what there is) pattern. The rears mounted on Sidewinders are 60.5 lbs, which is 2 lbs heavier than Corsa's.

I get all tires and wheels road force balanced and matched. These came from the factory not to far out of balance, therefore, were easy to match and balance. It almost seems a waste to run them on the street, however, the 9L did not like my last tires.

I'm running 295/345 on my Gen IV. Had it at the track last weekend and absolutely loved them over the Corsas. They wore really well, and didn't lost their grip after 8-20 minute sessions.
The old R888s were directional, while these are asymmetrical; theoretically these should get some extra life out of them as you are able to swap them side to side.

Two things... I thought you were not supposed to swap sides with tires as it was unhealthy for the tire to change the direction that the tire has broken in and become accustomed? Is this a myth?? Secondly, does this raise Hell with your TPMS sensors?

Any feedback appreciated about road noise and wet grip for those using the tire for both touring and track. I might give them a try once the Corsas are done.

I've never heard that... The tires were engingeered to go both directions, so I'm not sure why swapping sides would be a big deal. After a lap or so, the tread that was "used" to going the other direction will be burnt off.
Yeah, I just ignore it and check them after every session. I have the sensors in my wheel, but obviously the 30/28 psi that I start with cold isn't enough to keep the light off.

My first session on Saturday was in the rain, and they held up great! I had no issues. My fastest lap times were mid 1:57's, and during the morning session I was about 8-ish seconds slower; a lot of that had to do with it being my first session in a month or so though.
As far as road noise, my car is so damn loud that I couldn't hear any tire road noise if I wanted to.

They look good. Have you ever drag raced with these? Just curious about the 60'? I know they have a stiff sidewall and aren't a drag race tire but these tires are a great all around tire for many uses, good but not perfect at everything.

There is very little road noise, however, they will not be a good rain tire. I read a tech paper on the differences when compared to the original 888. they are supposed to be better cornering, but, not a good rain tire.

Are you sure about this? If you reverse them side to side the outside tread will be going in the opposite direction, won't it?

100% for sure. Regardless of how they're installed, the outside tread is going "the wrong way".
There's no forward or backward, just inside or outside. So as long as the outside is on the outside, it's good to go.

I was not speaking in reference of the tread, I was speaking in reference of the belts inside the tire.

I understand.
I mean, back in the day I'm sure it was hard on the old radial tires....today, it's fine to swap them.
If someone has proof that I'm wrong, I'd gladly eat crow; but I don't think that's true.

Are these slightly taller as a function of being wider than the oem Corsas (even at the same claimed width/aspect ratio)?
They look to be wider, and taller. I keep going back n forth between doing the 295-30s or 275-35s R888Rs.

I'm curious to see how these pan out for track days as well. For me, the Corsa's are 15 minute tires. After that, they are too hot and get progressively slower and slower. I can also kill a front set in one track day, if I stay in it for the whole session. When they get hot, they really wear......

275/35 is 96.25mm tall, 295/35 would be 103.25mm, and our oem is 88.5mm

I did four 20 minute sessions on Saturday and four 20 minute sessions on Sunday. I was the fastest towards the end of the day on Sunday. My fastest consecutive laps came in the last session within the last 5-10 minutes.
I was EXTREMELY impressed by them. But, like you guys, I wouldn't believe it until I tried it. I'm not the guy to brag on anything I'm not a firm believer in. I will buy another set of R888R's.

I guess I'd really only need something that's okay in the wet vs great as it's easy to slow down a bit if you're caught in the rain. Not like it's a daily driver. Curious about dry grip of the fronts vs the Corsa on track because that tire has really, really impressed me and those I track with regularly. Unless tire tech has improved the breed the fact that the 295 was designed for the Gen V could make it a tough act to beat for dry grip and handling characteristics at the limit, even if something else does wear a bit longer. Maximum grip and wear don't usually exist in the same tire as the ACR-E guys have experienced.
I did a day with mostly Porsche guys last week and they were voicing their frustration with the GT3RS 20/21 inch wheel combo and the fact the only tire that fits is the Pilot Sport Cup 2's which they dislike strongly. And that car and wheel combo was designed by a brand that puts most of that model on race tracks. The perfect streetable track tire definitely is not an easy thing to find.
I'm sure many are eager to try the R888R and will share their initial and longer term impressions.

Great to hear! It's unfortunate they are only speed rated Y instead of (Y) like our OEM Pirellis. This isn't big deal for most people, but if you plan to do a high speed mile event they may have rules about the speed rating of the tire. Just something to keep in mind.

My first time to the track I had Corsas. Now, this was my first ever time with ANY car. I've had bikes on the track before, but never cars. I was running consistent 2:08-2:10's on the Corsas.
Overall, I would say the R888R's were 2-3 seconds faster, and my balls were 7-8 seconds faster than the first time.

That is very true. For me it doesn't matter, as I won't be doing in top end racing. The fastest I hit on my local track is about 140ish.

A 295/35 would still be over an inch shorter than the oem rears, 26.1" front vs 27.4" rear (355/30) overall diameter. I don't really like the plymouth prowler look on our cars. The stock wheel gap looks terrible in the front in stock sizes IMO. Sadil on here posted pics of a 35 series in the front on sidewinders, it was either 295 or 285 and it looked perfect. Filled the fender gap nicely and matched the rear better.

The heights were very close on the rears, I compared them this week, however, one was mounted and one was not.. If you actually measure the corsa rears they come in about 1/4" to 3/8" shorter than advertised. When I first bought the car (2013) I posted about the discrepancy. That may not be true today.

I read the TireRack description of the tires but I still don't understand the ability to swap them side to side based on pictures of the tread. It would appear that the tread would be going in opposite directions left to right. Is this normally the way asymmetrical tires work or am I mis-reading the photos???

Exactly my point. I don't think they would make a 355 for this reason. Even though the specs says .1 in difference with the P Zeros, but that's basically the same.

That is correct. My first experience with asymmetrical tires would be Falken Azenis wayyyy back. They are asymmetric, not directional. Just like the Kumho V720 ACRs on your car ;)
What happens to the tread when you put the tire on the left side of the car and then on the right? It doesn't matter, if you look carefully after the 99Y you see where the tire is marked (OUTSIDE)

With an asymmetric design you need the larger shoulder block on the outside to take the abuse during cornering, this is more important than the direction of the groove on the inboard shoulder for water evacuation.
