Hello,
first post on the new site. my question is what are the signs that you need to resync the throttle boddies on a gen 1? i.e. what are the characteristics with driveability that lets you know they need re-synced?

1st gear bullhunching would be one, having to feather the clutch to prevent the semi-violent surging that only feathering the gas and clutch can subside. Hopefully you can sense it before it gets too bad, mine was worse after a fidanza and stage 3 clutch but smoothed out with a race balancer on the front and some tweaking on the bodies, best of luck

thanks for the response. by bullhunching do you mean bucking? i do have that some of that in first. also when i am accelerating in 3rd or 4th gear it feels like it has a power surge. thanks, todd

Syncing mostly affects idle and off idle operation, and shows up as low speed bucking. Above that, you'll probably never notice. What happens is that one TB starts opening first, so that half of the engine wants to go, while the other half wants to stay at idle resulting in rough running.

Bucking / Lurching at parking lot speeds! To chek your synch you need a person in the driver's seat and the tester with fingertips on the throttle-body cables.

When the driver slowly adds throttle (motor OFF) the tester should feel the (drivers side) left-side TB open first, by just a fraction of an inch, or by a fraction of a second, before the right side opens. LEFT OPENS FIRST.

If its even, or opposite, you get bucking. AL flywheel makes it worse, but does not cause it.

When mine had the issue, it would miss and jerk around 10-12 mph, every time.
