It looks like two Viper's are in the Ultimate Track Car Challenge this year which happens this Friday, May 19th. One is from Gerry Wood Dodge and the other is Josh Hill. Is Josh on here?

From what I have read, Gerry Wood Dodge should represent very well.

Here's a better entry list with the years of the cars as well. It's an image with smallish print, that's all the posted, no text list.

Douglas Wind's Neon is badass, glad to see that in there.
I love all the older iron too, '67 Camaro, '65 Mustang, '70 Firebird, a few Cobra replica's and that '84 Fiero looks interesting as well. Good luck to those guys as well as Brad and Josh!

I think the ACR-E's should lay down some serious lap times. VIR has a fresh re-pave and the track has epic amounts of grip. Supposed to be a little hot on Saturday but so long as it stays dry, it should be a lot of fun to watch.

Ariel Atoms can be tough. Interesting lack of newer cars, lack of Z06s, and lack of supercars or near supercars.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Riley driven by Eric Foss has a shot at winning the event overall. Those cars are crazy fast with tons of down force. If they have the car dialed in, they could probably get down somewhere in the 1:40's on VIR Full.

2nd place was the wrong kind of Viper hehe.
Congrats to Bob Wood for 9th place in a field of insane dedicated track cars. Does anyone know of Bob's ACR was bone stock or had mods?

Times for the door slammers weren't that quick especially now with the repave. I would have expected in decent conditions a well driven ACR to be in the 55's? My friend in his C7Z is in the 59's in HPDE traffic. I do have the "Was it bone stock" question as well?
A 57 in a Porsche Cup car is expected now. They were doing 57's 9 years ago if memory serves me right. I am guessing ACRSteve in a 997 or a 991 Cup to be sub 53 and 57's in his current car. Maybe he can chime in with his expectations.

A 58 by John George in his ST2 car is rolling. Car looks cool too!!
Condition question answered. Vipers looked awesome. There's a video of them rolling off.

You're spot on. Well driven ACR can get down to 55's or even a little better in good conditions. It was scorching hot on Friday which I'm sure hurt the lap times.

Hi guys,
The ACR was stock with exception of high-temp brake fluid and motor oil. Oh, and the crazy green wrap. That's the point of what we are doing - taking customers on rides in a stock ACR to show them what it can do. Mod's would spoil that effort. No comments on the Hellcat??!! What an experience that was :devilish:
I was disappointed in my time. I had not driven the track in 2 years, and it was hot!
Two yeas ago I put down a 2:00:3 in a T/A2.0 and the factory drivers turned a 1:57:3, so I was expecting to do better than TA times. Again, it was hot and slick.
As a point of reference, in our Thunder Roadsters, we shaved 3 full seconds off our lap times between Friday and the cooler Sunday weather.

I'm not sure why it didn't post in the final results, but I managed to turn a staggeringly slow lap of 2:11:767 in the Hellcat Charger. This was the second session (I ran off through turn 1 in the first session rendering those times DQ). Needless to say this isn't a road course monster, but with some time on track I'm confident it can do better than this.

Brad,
What color was your TA 2, it would have been a nice addition to the region's club events. Sorry, did not know you had a Viper several years ago or I would have reached out and asked you to join the club.

Well you had the fastest stock car there by far. Congrats! You should have ran Michelin or Pirelli slicks, you would have been at least 5 seconds faster.

Thanks! It was fun seeing what can be done with this incredible car in showroom stock configuration vs the other cars which were dedicated track cars and highly modified. It's a benchmark for comparision. That was also the point with running the Hellcat, but that car we had put the Toyo Proxes R888R tires on. The OEM tire would have lasted 2 laps and been toast. With that said, those Toyo's ended up being too sticky and ultimatley overwhelmed the brakes and suspension thus making a new handling characteristic to work with.
I have a question about the aftermarket tire options for the ACR. I am unable to source an identical front tire in size to the OEM tire in a race slick. What are you seeing as the alternative? The Hoosier R7/A7 option is about .7" taller overall and I'm not sure that's a change in the right direction for handling.
For the short term, we are running the car 100% stock as part of the promotional events, but after we've sold the last Viper I want to run with a stickier tire.

You'll have to go to an 18" wheel for the slicks. Here are the Michelins. I've bought them, but haven't run them yet as they'll knock my ACR out of TT1 and into TTU with nasa. I'll use them on my '13 soon.

Will you not have to sacrifice the ceramic rotors if in fact you go to 18" wheels? I'm not the least bit interested in giving those up.

No, the CCB's clear the 18" front Forgelines just fine. I have had good luck with wear and performance on the Michelin slicks. I am running a 19" rear though. Michelin's give a nice wide section width of 333 up front with 353 in the back.

There's about half a dozen or so of us on here running 18's on the ACR. The wheels have to be custom built and they barely clear, you will get scoring in the barrel from rocks. So you may end up having to replace the front wheels every season or so.

The times above are for Cory Friedman's grand am cars, which are modified VS a normal 996/997 cup car, hence why they are in the GTA class. The PCA club record in a 996 cup is a 57.0 so I would hardly call 57s "expected." The 991 record is a 53.1
rennpoints.com is a good resource for PCA club race times
