I'm getting the front bumper, bikini hood, mirrors, headlamps, A-pillars, and part of the roof done this week. I have heard of the white buildup next to the film from wax and other contaminants. Being that my car is Gunmetal it will show even more. What kind of product do you all use or dont use to keep that at bay?

You can just clean off the residue gently with a finger nail or micro fiber. Nothing fancy

Previous owner of mine did the Xpel and ceramic coat, I don't get any buildup, just hit the bug guts spots with a small alcohol swab. Mine is black.

Don't forget the door grabs/handles they scratch up easy from grabbing....Real easy to do...

My detailer told me that Xpel has some type of relationship with C Quartz and then CQuartz has a relationship with Car Pro.

My ACR has full Xpel wrap and the car is coated with C Quartz finest.

I use the Car Pro " Reload Spray" and the Car Pro shampoo "Reset"

for the whole purpose that they cooperate with Xpel & C Quartz

Hope this helps, I'm very happy with the Car Pro stuff..

Good to know. Hadn't heard about Car Pro before. Think I read about CQuartz on the Xpel webby.
Now I'm eye-ballin' that "Reload Spray". I'm currently using up a bottle of a basic detail spray.

I have Xpel Ultimate on the entire front of the car. Upon delivery in early March, she looked brand new n' everybody said so.
After I washed her once with Sonax shampoo and brand new super plush microfiber everything, I could tell it knocked the shine back a tiny bit.
I've been plenty happy using Sonax on my other cars (especially the wax), but I could tell.

Immediately went back to the Slowhatch car wash process.
Got a foam gun attachment for the power washer, Chemical Guys Honeydew and air dry with a leaf blower.. n' the shine is back.
After a single wash!

Thanks for the tip on the Reload Spray. (just ordered a bottle on Amazon)

Nice, I'm sure you'll be happy with the Reload product. It's has much more protective properties than a regular detail spray.
It's pretty concentrated though. My detailer said to spay it onto a microfiber cloth then apply it to the vehicle. A little goes a long way. You'll see what I mean.
Also has great UV protection.

Reload is good stuff. I use it over the CQuartz on the Viper, and also as a stand-alone on my truck (which is not coated). Can be finicky to deal with, but once you get the hang of it. Good old fashinoned Megs 34 Final Detail also plays well for quick cleanups of C-Quartz coated.

For lots of discussion on this, go out to the Autogeek detailing forums.

Reload is awesome. I do it once every 6 months or so. Spray it on, buff it in. Let it sit for 60 seconds and polish it out.

^ my brother got his RX F Sport ceramic coated and was told not to use an air dryer. But I noticed you use it on your car.

We got into this conversation because I want to get an air blower for drying our cars. Why would the company that did the work on his car tell him to not air blower it? I mean if it gets driven at 80+ mph isnt that almost the same thing?

I have Xpel on Shadow Blue Pearl (darker, closer to black than Gunmetal)

99% of people don't realize it's on the nose until they finally see the line. When done right, it virtually goes away.

Never had any issue with it, self healing properties are good & it's held up well.

Don;t know why, every professional detail shop in the world uses one. I would avoid gas powered blowers, and avoid being an idiot like blowing rocks and debris onto the car. Otherwise, what they told your brother holds zero water with me.

When you apply products (polish, wax, etc) just don't go to the seam, or not at least until the product "blob" you started with has thinned down to a minimal amount. That should minimize the "white" line at the seam.

A great wax will last 3-6 months and the nano coatings are typically 3-5 years but seasonal cars will hold up longer. Nano coatings allow the water to waterfall off the car and make a simple cleaning effective. They are great to top off a recently applied film protection. Absolutely no reason to not use a normal leaf blower on them. Doing it for years without an issue and the best paint correction guys don't see any issue. The less contact to the paint the better. Certain nano coatings guarantee safe use through touchless car washes which have high pressure water and harsh chemical soaps and it's good to have that peace of mind if you are in a pinch (road trips, etc). The products like reload, iron X and most of their line are top notch products. Reload is a must if you nano coat. No need to wax with that set up and as Ron stated, be careful around seams if you decide wax is better for you than nano. Not only gunk buildup but it will definitely shorten the life and look of the film. I don't think you can do anything to damaged seams outside of reapplication.

You guys are making me feel shitty. I haven't even had a chance to wash the car between track days and driving to/from the mechanic :)

CarPro Reload is good stuff. Work well on the CQuartz on my Viper, and as a stand-alone on my Ram, which isn't coated. Takes a little practice to learn to use.

PS - Some detail sprays will work on the Cquartz, some won't. I love Adams, but it doesn't play as nice on the Viper, as has a little carnauba in it.

Good old Meg's 34 Final Inspection (have to order it online) is an old-school detail spray that works very nicely on the coating. It's inexpensive too.

I must have over a dozen different detail sprays....I'm like a woman with lipsticks!

ON edit: I just realized I had already replied this same thing above! Ooops!
