My rollbar was fabricated and installed by Ross Murray of Exoticraft. His workmanship is outstanding and I'm really glad I had him do the install. I am extremely pleased with the entire process from ordering it, planning my long drive to Southern CA, seeing Ross in action, and his attention to detail during the install. Thanks to Venom V for the referral to Ross.

Beautiful install! Question - did this take away any visibility out the back with the rear view mirror? The spoiler blocks the bottom 1/3 view, does this block the top 1/3?

Great looking roll bar. Does it mount to factory holes or is drilling required. If I start to track my car a bunch, I'd like to get one of these installed.

Yes, Ross really focuses on on the installation details! Visibility is impacted but upper 1/3 view is not blocked by the horizontal tubing...you do see the two diagonals. Regarding factory holes, yes it uses factory holes. For the rear diagonals, you do have to drill to enlarge the two stock holes so that a larger mounting bolt will fit. For the two forward mounting brackets, you use the factory threaded holes.
I am very detailed and picky about my mods...I give Ross a 10 out of 10 for the rollbar quality in terms of fabrication, silver powder coat, and the installation.

How much weight does it add to the car??

Yea, like apxnv I don't really have any issues with mine on visibility. On my 13 GTS I had the 1.0 aero and the view was really impacted. On my ACR even with the roll bar the view is way improved by comparison. I don't even really notice it.

Who needs a rear view when you are passing everyone ;)

I think it's around 25 lb. Having just come back from a drive, I just realized that the upper horizontal visibility is blocked. However I have my seat set low so it doesn't matter that the upper 25% of the rear window is blocked. My TA 1.0 rear spoiler creates the bigger visibility issue. More reason to upgrade to a larger aftermarket wing!

How do you know if that will help or hurt you in a crash?

With all due respect, personally, I'm just not entirely convinced this is entirely necessary. Obviously I would be interested to see if there is anyone who has looked at the effectiveness of this. Don't get me wrong it looks good. Its just that its not like its a full roll cage and by the looks of it, it is only sits next to and below the existing roll bar(incorporated into roof) from the factory. Just my 2 cents 25365

I met a fabricator that built a full cage for a GenV ACR. He pulled the body off the car built the cage and then reinstalled the body and interior. It was magnificent. He said that a full swing of a baseball bat would take down the factory roll bar.

I did as well but 30K for labour only for the roll bar is ridiculous

he is wrong, I had tested that factory rollbar, and it saved my ass- front a pillars were collapsed in front and the back was perfect, except for big scratches in the paint

Well he would say that wouldn't he?
This is no cage, I don't we're kidding ourselves, but some nice double insurance. A bat isn't taking down the factory bar, hell a bat wouldn't take down the roll hoops on a gen4 vert, I've seen one upside down and the hoops were supporting the weight of the car. But it's super cool, extra protection FWIW, and a great place to mount a camera, lol. I do love the look in mine.

You rolled the car on the roof and the factory bar held up? How bad was the crash? Do you have pics? How many times did the car roll?
Thanks!

Guys,
I had a Mustang race car that had an SCCA approved full cage, and true this roll bar is no cage and doesn't protect against all types of impacts.
It is, however, very functional and significantly improves the safety in the event of a rollover as compared to just the factory bar. The roll bar is extremely rigid, the tubes are short in length and well designed. They attach directly to the beefy bulkhead directly behind the seats, this is the bulkhead that the six point harness mounts to. Because the tubes are short, they are not going to buckle or yield as easily as longer tubes would. Plus, it literally touches the headliner, it is that perfect of a fit.
Most of the tracks around here see speeds over 140 mph, cars can get pretty mangled and roofs collapse in wrecks at speeds a lot lower than that. With a six-point harness and a Necksgen like I use, or HANS device, I think this bar is a must.
And although my ACR is 90% track use, I drive it to and from the track on occasion, or to club events. That means a full cage is ruled out for me and probably most everyone on this forum, for obvious reasons. A quality roll bar such as this is the best solution for a street/track Viper.

You don't want your roof caving in is you are using harnesses, your neck will be broken for sure

Holy crap Blue! That's insane. Glad you were ok.
I've rolled two vehicles on the street, one an SUV, the other a pickup truck. The roofs completely collapsed on both occasions. The pickup truck was a slow speed rollover, and that factory rollover protection that all cars are tested for didn't help much at all. As Arizona says, with a harness your neck and head are vulnerable because your body can't pivot down as the roof caves in. I'm sure the factory rollbar is helpful, but I want as much protection as I can get.

Ross does great work. He is also the SCCA champion in a Viper Comp Coupe. The factory support bar does protect from forward and back forces, so it could easily be pushed one way or the other.
Adding the rollbar will be safer, plus it will stiffen up the car as the rear mounts go into the rear shock towers.

About as hard as it would be to color match a body panel to the car?
Not hard. Probably even easier as it won't be flush against another panel of the same color.

Nobody should be running with harnesses without s cage and or reinforced roll hoops.. If you flop it over on her lid, your head has no where to go, you can't get away from the ceiling. I received my rear cage/hoop last week and am having it paint matched before install.

Not to be put a damper on the exhilaration of maxing out a high speed turn, cresting Laguna Seca's corkscrew and getting it just right, or hitting excess of 130+mph at Thunderhill and rolling perfectly through turn 1, or riding the edge of tire grip in every turn, but we all take risks. We hope to be in a controlled environment where the chance of rolling is highly unlikely. However, there are unforeseen situations: mechanical such as a brake problem, blowout or swaybar link breaking; cresting a blind hill going off track to avoid a stranded car mid-track, spinning out due to a fluid spill and getting hit by another car...in a normal situation these wouldn't cause a rollover situation. Now, what if you are at 100-130+mph or in the middle of a high speed turn, where once you're off track the run off is in the dirt, not smooth, and before you can slow the car down it gets sideways, pitching you into a roll.... I would rather be strapped into a 6pt harness and have a rollbar above my head!

I'd like to know as well. I also believe the factory roll bar provides adequate rollover protection, so I've been holding out on installing the one that OP has.
