I have a 96 RT/10 and I'm looking for my second Viper.
I have been watching this one for quite a while:
https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/6095069761.html
What should a 1999 black GTS coupe go for?
22,700 miles, excellent condition, no mods, clean history.
The car has been advertised since a year ago, starting at $40,000 and only dropped to $38,500 a few days ago.
I'm seeing prices all over the map yet cars that I think are reasonably priced are languishing for many, many months without getting sold.
I don't put much stock in price guides but, at the extremes, Edmunds gives it about $26,000 tops and NADA gives a range of Low Retail $38,300 to Average Retail $43,300 to High Retail $54,500.

My guess would be around $35k.

$40K is a very fair price depending on condition. Mileage isn't bad. If it was my car, I wouldn't sell less than $42K.

Ah! 22k miles. I have no idea where I got the number from but I thought I read it had 88k.

I bet you got 88K from the price they should sell for. :D:D

Maybe you doubled the street (44th Street times 2) for some reason.
$35K I can live with and that's what I offered back in Feb when I went to look at the car but he was adamant at $40,000 then.
I guess he's not so adamant anymore.
I'll offer it again and see how it goes.
Thanks for the comments.
Oh, I just checked my notes. There is an upgrade to a Borla Exhaust. Does that make any difference one way or the other? I'm guessing it wasn't cheap.

Not cheap, but Borla is on the cheaper end of Viper exhausts.

$38.5 seems pretty reasonable. What else can you buy for that amount that even comes close?

My gut says $35 tops. Otherwise I wait for the next deal to come along.

So, why did you ask us for our opinions then? I'm sorry, but nothing drives me nuts more than a, "what is this worth" thread when the person asking for advise wants to argue with others opinions on the value.
As for that car specifically, I think the interior is hurting it's ability to sell. I tend to like it but I'm sure most people prefer the black interior on a black car.

The only thing I'll say is don't even pay attention to Edmund. You can't even get an a salvaged GTS for 26k let along one with low miles and good condition.

That seems like a decent price; but, consider how often a low mileage private party Viper sale comes up in Phoenix with a car color and accessories option you like. That factor is something only you can figure out. Otherwise, if not local, or not private party, then figure in the added cost/hassle of getting it home or added sales tax.

All good points but I'm sticking at $35K. If I don't get it I move on.

If I wanted a black GTS with cognac interior and had seen this car in person and liked it. $38,500 would be reasonable to me...clearly you're not going over $35,000. Good luck.

OP- "What's it worth?"
Everyone- "$38,500"
OP- "No, it's worth $35k. Thanks for your time."

40k seems like a fair price; 38.5k seems like a very good price if the tires have been replaced at some point. If it has a clean title/history it shouldn't last long in my opinion.
35k is a steal, which is what you're looking for...

Internet dealers. I would want to check out the car in person and put on a lift and check it out.

Yes, I'm looking for a steal. :smilielol:
Yes, it's local and I've already checked the car out when I made the offer in Feb.
Just biding my time.

I don't really know anyone that, when buying any vehicle, isn't looking for the best deal possible for themselves. Sure, there are some here that believe you are single handily driving down Viper values by doing so, but I am not one of them.

It really is a nice car.

This is the worst time to buy a car like this when you want a deal. Dead of winter is when you buy. Didn't anyone teach you boyz that?
This is Arizona. Summer time is the good time for buying sports cars. Winter is our high season.

We have no "dead of winter" here in Phoenix.

We have no "dead of winter" here in Phoenix. That's why I bought mine in Wisconsin and stole it..But learning from a friend who owns a dealership warm or not right after the holidays is best to buy a car like this.
