Transmission Question

Noticed a puddle underneath the Viper this morning (very dark color). Jacked it up and took these photos of the drippage. Definitely coming from the tranny area.

Is this just a matter of replacing the seal, or are there other issues going on here? Sorry for posting if this issue is covered on another thread somewhere.

Looks like your slave cyl. just died. Have you tried to start it and put it into gear?

It still drives ok, but now that you mention it, the clutch seems to have more play in it than used to. I actually just noticed that sloppiness yesterday.

I had some loose threaded plugs in the back of the block that looked a lot like that. Make sure you know what kind of oil it truly is. Good luck

Check fluid level in clutch reservoir...and, BE SURE car car is in neutral before starting.

My T56 developed a leak from the input shaft but it was much less than that. Regardless, it is a fairly simple ordeal to drop the transmission and fix it whether it is the slave or input shaft seal.

Looks like the slave going bad as most had have pointed out. Have you felt at times that the engagement has been very low? I had a drops of fluid down there and then it finally fully pissed (luckily) in my drive way.

Can you confirm it's clutch/brake fluid?

Another vote for the slave cylinder. Mine was a little darker...

Mine was a rear main seal, but if it is not engine oil, then slave as others have mentioned. The color and type of fluid will obviously be the key to knowing what the problem may be.

Looks like the slave to me too. The quick way to tell? Taste a single drop of dipstick oil and compare to a drop of that... I don't advocate this method for everyday diagnostics but you'll know right away. Clutch fluid is very bitter/acrid.

Thanks guys. Does look like the slave. The fluid is dark...almost black. Since I just changed the oil, it's pointing to the slave.

I have an email over to Eddie Martin. This looks like a job that I'd rather not tackle myself.
