Is it normal on a Gen V to have 6th gear whine? Drove car to work yesterday for the first time and when I dropped her into 6th gear around 70 MPH I could hear a rather loud whine while under light and heavy throttle conditions. The noise goes away when I let off the throttle or down shift to a lower gear.

See the other thread going on about this ("rear end seize up" thread). On my first diff, I had some slight whine in 5 or 6th, at 60+ mph on-throttle. Really wasn't too bad, but I also had some clunkiness in the diff at lower speeds. Diff was replaced under warranty.
My new diff, still has some light whine in the mid-70 mph range, but clunkiness is diminished. Bottom line - many of these Danas make some noise, and a few of us have had them replaced. Have your tech drive it - they may replace it, but the new one may whine as well. In the other thread, one is on his 2nd diff, it's it's almost as loud as the first one, he says.
On my first diff , you really had to turn down the radio to distinguish it from normal road noise. I am a former musician, so I can hear different sounds.
But there is whine, and then there's howl. It's how much you want to put up with.

2017 model....aren't you supposed to take it easy the first 500 miles? You're already in 6th? Like swexlin says there's another thread going on this. Do u have a sound clip?
