I have a MGW shifter I had bought for my second Gen 3 car, but sold it before I installed it, will this short shifter fit the Gen V transmission?.

Maybe. TR6060 in the Gen 5s, T56 in the Gen 3. A 6060 is technically a T56 with differing internals so the shifter may work? Someone with experience can chime in...

How much gain would there really be on a V? It's a pretty short shift already.

I think it would be a bit shorter throw , plus a more positive shift, sometimes I feel the factory one a bit sloppy , and when you're down in mexico you don't want to miss a shift ;)

I would highly recommend leaving the factory Gen 5 shifter alone and putting in a shorter handle (like an MGW gripper or ripper unit).

The gen 5 oem shifter is as nice as the aftermarkets. It was improved from the shifter used in TR6060s in the gen 4s.

G5 factory shifter is almost as good as the MGW in my 2015 Mustang GT. Only thing I dont like about it is the baseball shifter, Im getting the more canned shaped one from viperstore

A G4 shifter will fit the G5 if you replace the four hold-down bolts, not sure about the G3 shifter. Like Alex said, the height diff on the 6060 may be a problem. I can tell you this, you have approx 3/4" from the flat area on the shifter top to the bottom of the tunnel.
