Interesting to see the collaboration with Atlantic Records and the music videos that the SRT vehicles have been in recently. Why did it take so long for Dodge to learn how to market this brand? Viper could have seriously gone places if this was done 15 yrs ago.

Now Tim is on.....IMO, one of the peeps responsible for killing the Viper.

I helped my friends do the sound on this commercial! They brought me in to ensure that all of the sound clips they recorded and mixed sounded like a true Viper. All the recordings in fact were, Vipers but you'll notice in some are from race spec GT cars. They are all Viper V10 sounds though!

No yawn on speed though. Wow!!! 2.3 0-60; 9.65 at 140mph 1/4. Carries the wheelie for 3 feet off the line. Insane!

And Vin Diesel now. Really great reveal. Nice job Dodge.

Why couldn't they have done something like this for the ACR when it came out. They would still be selling Vipers.

Lots of technology there. 2.3 0 to 60. 9.65 through 1/4 mile. 1.8g at launch.

Yes, this has been rehashed on this forum many times, for the Gen 5 in general. Person in charge of marketing back in 2013 had no clue what the f she was doing. Period.

Option list: black hood, brass monkey rims, certified NHRA roll cage. lol.

I'm not a Dodge guy beyond Viper, but this is cool, fastest factory car is a cool title to earn. Bummer is, I'm sure these will be slightly harder to buy than mining for unobtanium.

I'm Mopar through and through, and the numbers are impressive. But....I miss my SRT8 Charger. If they offered this motor in the Charger...yes. Or, I can just hit the lottery and by the car I really want, a Ferrari F12 TDF!

Funny thing is, a few threads down we have massively modded viper at nationals setting records. And a Demon could pull off the showroom floor and walk them and beat those times. Not by much, but still, it really is something when put in that perspective. Of course make a turn and the game is over, but ...

Not that I think they would but I honestly hope they don't ever put this engine in a four door car. Like 707 isn't enough for a sedan???

Because if dodge had trouble selling vipers at original msrp 130k+, nobody is going to buy a hopped up viper for over 200k.

"The Demon hits showrooms this fall with an estimated base price of $85,000, but we suspect transaction prices will be higher due to demand. Dodge will produce 3000 Demons for the 2018 model year, plus 300 for customers in Canada."

One of the youtube videos from the reveal in NY mentioned target price under $100k.

As a Pontiac fan and coming from the 04-06 GTO to the Viper, frustration from poor advertising is nothing new to me. Just gotta say to yourself, screw it, I got the car I always wanted and it doesn't matter how Dodge failed to market it.

What an outstanding reveal and commercial. Now that it seems like Dodge is finally getting the marketing down I hope they bring back the Viper.. Think about it Dodge.

You are now the only company to produce the fastest street legal drag car bar none. Now why don't you be the company that produces the only true street legal race car? Oh wait. You were. You could have to two greatest performing street, track and strip cars under your halo.

Come on SRT/Dodge/Tim/Sergio. Wake up and bring Viper back to life in a year or two.

I'd guess $90 + $30k adm for awhile.

"When the Demon buyer orders his or her new Mopar muscle car, that person’s name is applied to the Demon Crate which has a matching VIN to the car. This cannot be ordered blank, so dealerships will be forced to provide a name and if they just put the dealership name or a generic name – it will make the car less attractive to some buyers. With this system, dealers almost have to order the car with an actual buyer lined up, which should help curb the massive markups."

"...prior to the first batch of orders, every dealership in the US and Canada will be told exactly how many Demons they will be getting. This way, dealerships won’t be able to tell prospective buyers that they “might get a car”, since the dealership will know exactly how many they will get before the first car reaches an owner."

I guess we'll see though.

One of our local dealers is only charging $15,000 CDN ADM. That's like $50 USD.

The demon is almost built from the ground up to be this type of car, the truth is a viper belongs no where near a drag strip but it is cool to see what can be unlocked from the mighty v10

Dodge is crushing it. Too bad they had to kill the Viper or they had all bases covered. Fastest SUV, fastest drag car, fastest track car

Why do they say it's the "Fastest Production Car?" That's a serious blunder... It is the "Quickest" but if you look at the top speed the car can attain, it's quite far from the "Fastest".

I saw a disclaimer that said it was based on the 1/4 mile. So 140mph trap is the fastest even for the most pedantic (myself included) ;)

Well the Hyper-car trifecta all are faster than 140mph in the 1/4 so I think they do mean quicker. The Veyron is easily 140+ and I'm sure the McLaren 720S will be as well since the outgoing 650S/575 LT all were in the 137+mph range. So right now there are faster cars mph-wise in the 1/4 but I don't think any of them are "quicker" elapsed time-wise in the 1/4 mile than the Demon. I could be wrong though as I don't keep up on car stats like I used to.

I know....I cringed when I heard that. They know it's not the fastest, they are hoping most people don't know the difference. It's not the quickest either. 918 Spyder, Chiron and Model S P100D all do 2.3s. Still, this is an awesome car and kudos to Dodge for having the balls to make it.

Since you have some inside contacts....do you know if the car was damaged when it landed after it went airborne and got a little nose high?? TIA.

So I'm watching Iron Man 3 on FX. On comes the Viper commercial...of course, it's really a commercial for Pennzoil. I'm happy it's on, but, again, if they had done this back in 2013 when the Gen 5 was first for sale....who knows?
