It would be interesting to know whether the Kumhos that have been reported to deteriorate rapidly on the fronts were subjected to a thorough a heat cycle procedure first, or not. Tire Rack certainly offers that option.

Had the same thought / question. Of course I just have a flat now, with 385 miles, so I'm not able to experiment on a single tire. But I don't know if they're cycled from factory, so just need to know to cycle or not. If I were doing a set, I'd cycle, like R888s, IMO. But dunno about as delivered.

Heat cycling won't help what kills the Kumho fronts. They are a soft tire, and wear quickly with little sidewall and lots of downforce. The rears are far more durable.

JonB at PartsRack has good pricing on tires usually .
My last 2 sets of fronts were heat cycled by Tire Rack. Totally useless:
2473724738
I'll keep doing it though because its cheap and definitely does not hurt.

Those outside shoulders got nom nom'd. What track were you running and what kind of camber?

I thought you just got this car? I find it strange the selling dealer didn't make sure the tires were in good condition.

The tire is on my 'stuff happens' list. I have other things I'm trying to resolve, so holding judgement, although a bad alignment and ride height set to the bump stops which I'm having to fix for $350+ right now is a tad disappointing, but let's keep the lid on the worm can for the moment. She's going to cost over a grand more to tidy up issues for sure.

Front -2.6 camber 0 toe, rear -1.5 camber .22 total toe in
Height is right in between the track height and the street height, both front and rear.
Wing was in hole 2 (stock) for Watkins Glen and is now in hole 1 (less attack angle)

Apologies to OP - I dont want to hijack this thread, but...
When I ran Watkins Glen, I got 2 full days (5 20-min sessions each) out of a set of fronts, and they looked like they may have done another day. I was not taking it easy either - my laps were in the 2:09 range.
When I run shorter tracks with lots of low-speed corners (Lime Rock, NJMP Thunderbolt/Lightning, etc), I get a max of 1 day if I am running balls out. This is WITH me rotating the tires left to right every 2 sessions.
I know I am overdriving the fronts, but I just can't help it - its too much fun.
Front camber is -2.6, toe in is 0
My rears are STILL the ones that were on the car from the factory :)

Oh crap - just got mine back it's getting clear bra coatings etc.
Does alignment need to be checked - will check ride height any suggestions prefer to install aero which was supposed to be done as were a few other things.

Odds are it's fine. Factory setting is great for most. Mine was supposed to come with VIR setup, ehhh, not so much, it was totally jacked about 10+ turns wrong, no rake, etc. Tom Sessions got me to Mike Levitas who did VIR setup and fixed misalignment and pull the car had. About $550 to do. Could've done my ride height myself of course, I wrench plenty on my race car and bikes and have a lift, but they didn't send the spanner wrenches and I didn't want to miss another week+ to get her on the road for break in miles.
If you are worried I'd check it, these tires wouldn't suffer a misalignment for long before wearing wrong.
I'm going in for xPel quote today, hoping this week for appt to get it done.
