First off, I figure that catch cans will solve this problem, but I still wanted to post and ask the question if that's what everyone thought it was. I got home late yesterday from Road Atlanta and have not had time to pull the air box apart yet to inspect, but looking at it at the track yesterday I could see a good bit of fresh oil on the drivers side back corner(closest to driver) where the top half meets the bottom half and then running down that corner. And when I felt the drain hole in the bottom of the box I got a decent amount of fresh oil there too. No oil anywhere on the passenger side corner, it was completely dry. I've had R29 done with the reroute of the line. But I've run 7-8 events over the last year and have never noticed a drop and then run road Atlanta and noticed a lot. Could it have been something different about this track setup that caused it? I checked the oil level all day at the track and before I left to go home to be on the safe side. I do feel like, regardless I need to get a catch can setup, but it was just a little alarming that I've never seen it before. Any one have any other thoughts?

Oh one more thing, I do have the k&N drop in filter and when I took the paper one out it had some oil but not a lot on it. Do you think the majority was just getting soaked up by the old paper one and the K&N is letting more drop through? Thanks for the help!!

It is not uncommon, depending on the track, for oil to get into the airbox even after the recall. This seems to become worse on higher speed, higher RPM right hand corners. A dual catch can setup would solve the issue.

Like you said - on the K&N I would just assume since the paper was dry it was absorbing the oil and the K&N is saturated already and more open so it is dripping through more.

Very interesting that you never saw this before.
I will do my first track day this year at RA. I may do the same and get a catch can.

I hope to attend the next meeting! :)
