Installing hood vents

Has anyone installed these themselves? It's kind of tricky, I can get one side of the clips in there but if I do that, I risk the other side scraping the paint as I try to push it down into the slots. I need to install one on the driver's side (GTS hood) and it's a pretty tight fit. Any tips?

they all 3 are different I think? you got the right one? oops I see you have the 2 vent hood

only thing to worry is breaking the tiny clips

Which side should I be trying to insert first? You have the slots that are painted where the clips go at the top, then you have the black (plastic?) slots on the bottom where the angled teeth-looking clips go into. Either way if I put one side in, it looks like the other side will scrape across the paint near the insert.
