I have a proper custom tune on mine, along with smooth tube, cat delete and corsa catback and it pops very nicely. Nothing to worry about. A custom tune always helps, but isn't super necessary if you are not hearing any detonation pings on those basic mods. I got a tune to mostly lower the coolant fan turn-on temperatures at idle, so it never goes over 195* when stalled in traffic and to also improve the overall drivability of the car. Worth it just for those points.

You can always put it on a dyno with A/F ratios to see where you are at on the rich/lean factor. Should only cost you around $90 for 3 runs with A/F ratio info, depending on where you live.

Okey,it sounds like it is pretty normal then:),thanks for nice information:)

I sometimes experience the same thing on my 94. Intake, catback, cat delete. The pops are sometimes loud. Since im OBD1 its not so easy to tune...but one day soon ill be sending the ecu out to mr. Cragin

It's called decel fuel. A good tuner can easily change it.

The popping sound usually means during the De-accel scheme (in the pcm) some raw fuel enters the cylinder during an non-ignition cycle and flows into the exhaust, the exhaust is hot, pop pop. If you have SCT or HPT you can accentuate the magnitude.

I had my tune accentuate the pop pop ;)

I've got plenty on mine and it got more noticeable after the header/hi-flo install. If I go up to red line, I'll get a nice crackle during the 1-2 shift

I had some with the factory tune. Had a canned tuned dowloaded from Dan Cragan and the car runs much smoother with and feels more zippy. Also nice to have a speedo that is reading correct.Didn't notice the decel which to me means more efficiency.

Efficiency?? You do realize what you're driving, right? Lol :smilielol:

Lol but then it doesn't go 'pop bang' and scare the poop out of the teenager driving the souped up civic that dared to try race you!
