View Full Version : Got a pretty neat piece off ebay last week

As most of you know my Viper collection has some pretty unique pieces. I have a signed gen V piston, autographed right front facia of the Oreca GTS-R, the NY Auto Show gen V Hot Wheel and so on...

But one of my favorite Vipers of all time is the SVS Stryker Twin Turbo. I've always like the paint work on that car. Red, white and blue flames, well over 2000HP running E85, and a record of 231+ mph. What's not to like right?

So, for whatever reason, just for kicks I decided do a search to check if there was anything on Ebay. Most of my collection has 1:18th scale cars, a few 1:24th scale and mostly Hot Wheels in between. I usually don't collect the odd sizes but sure enough there was at least a half dozen Stryker TT's made by Eagle Collectibles on Ebay. I stumbled on one for $20 and put a watch on it. Nobody bid, so I jumped on it in the last few minutes and won.

I didn't read the auction, never looked at the pictures as it never really hit me to do so. I figured sweet, got a new collectible and that was that. Well later that night I get an email from the seller stating that they won't be able to ship it out till Wednesday. No biggie I replied.

Wednesday rolls around and I get a 2nd email from the seller, Scott. He explains to me that his father is former US Senator of North Dakota Byron Dorgan and was given the car by Misak Jr who autographed it with a previous record, since Senator Dorgan is involved in energy projects. Scott then received it, had it for a while and decided it needed to go to a new home.

Now, not only can I say I have a piece of Viper history, but one a US Senator had as well.

Nice score. I have a collection of models too. Very nice to get a autographed piece. I have a few things signed by Andy Pilgrim when he raced Corvettes.

And the cat is out of the bag :) Still remember you telling me that story at VOI in Charlotte on the bus and me making a giant "holy crap you have got to be kidding me" face the entire time. Awesome.

Would you consider a trade for a beautiful yellow gen 1 Viper?????????????????

:D

Will have to work something out eventually that's for sure. That's a little slice of Viper history that will not go under my radar, not that or Sir Hiss. I will photograph both those cars at least once in my life! :D

Thanks guys. It has not been changed at all since Ron last drove it. It has the potential to have over 2300 RWHP with a few small changes. It's only is at 1700+ not. Phfffft, hardly enough to get it going from a red light...................:D

I first saw the car as it is at VOI 7 in Nashville, fell in love. When I got the opportunity to buy it, I jumped.

Do you drive it? If so, where?

Just curious....

Will you be taking it to this year's national Viper gathering?

Ohio? Mopar Nats? I have been asked, but I will probably take a newly minted TT RT to Ohio. I don't want to derail the OPs thread. To all, feel free to PM me. I will be more than happy to continue the conversation.

BRING IT TO NATS CAUSE I'LL BE THERE! Do it! There's enough RT/10's in Ohio!

Way to go Mike. Didn't know you had this car. I was at their shop getting some work done on my GTS years ago when I helped Jr load it into the trailer - to say it is a brutal car is an understatement.

Nice find, OP.
