Not an April Fool's joke - I just read that today is the day that sales taxes go up by a half percent around here. For a fully optioned ACR-E, that's $800. California is just plain crazy expensive and getting worse all the time.

Meh.....$800.00 is a small price to pay to have Thunderhill, Sonoma, Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow all in our back yard usable nearly year round. This year was very wet and it limited me driving my cars let alone tracking them. I really don't know how people in the snow belt and salt belt live that way. The idea of prepping my car for "winter storage" just does not compute, lol.

Yes the weather is so bad in North Carolina that I have only been able to to put 8000 fun miles on my car in the last year I also have track from Road Atlanta to VIR in my backyard that with the exception of a few days are usable year round.

1% of a highly inflated value. Ouch! Approx 1.5% in Michigan and 1.2% in Florida (no income tax) both with more sane valuations. But you need to add up all the taxes income, sales, property, fuel, vehicle, etc to get the complete picture. And then include those that are increased due to regulation such as water, natural gas, electricity, etc. With all of that is why I chose Florida for post work life (with summer home maintained in Michigan). Both locations have plenty of good tracks. That is not a limiting factor.

About the only good thing in CA is Prop 13 for homeowners. I have a house that's been in the family since the '60s and the taxes are ridiculously low. On the other hand, I've got a property in Silicon Valley, and the property taxes are insane. But, at least they "only" go up by a maximum of 2% a year, so if property values keep going up like they have been, it won't be so bad eventually. In my case, though, I bought in 2001, so that 2% rise every year has kept pace with the property value increase (including the market fall-apart in 2007-2012). During the down years, it was annoying, my place was worth less than I paid for it, yet I was still getting a 2% increase in taxes every year.

Don't even get me started on the libtard gun laws in CA....

Anyhow, going back to the original subject, I know a few people that were waiting for their cars to be delivered last week, and it sucks for them to get a $800 price bump just because April 1 came around before they could go into contract on their cars.

That's nothing they just raised the tax on a pack of smokes by $3.00 per starting today.

That's generally how they try and control things that they want to get rid of. Tax the crap out of it, and people will supposedly stop buying it. There have been efforts to do that with ammo, too, and I suspect that if the new ammo laws get thrown out because of their undue burden on everyone, they'll control ammo sales by taxing the heck out of it. On that note, look at what we pay in gas guzzler tax on our cars. It's stupid - and double taxation in my opinion. We already pay gas tax, so if we're using more gas, we're clearly paying more taxes - so why do we need to pay another tax on top of it when we buy a new car? Just stupid in my opinion.

Really not sure why we need to resort to labeling people and putting them in boxes or talking shit about other people's homes. Yes, California's cost of living is high. Yes, our taxes are ridiculous and our gun laws are an absolute joke. But regardless, some of us still choose to live here because we love it for many other reasons that I could write an essay about.

My political beliefs for the most part lean more to the left than they do the right. But that doesn't mean I'm a "libtard". I am a gun owner and am an advocate of proper firearm education. Most importantly, I'm a Viper enthusiast.

Emphasis on that last point. We're all here to be united by a passion we share which is Vipers and performance vehicles in general. Can we please, FFS, leave politics out of this forum? We have enough of this crap flooding our Facebook news feeds daily. I come here to talk about Vipers and cars...not drop into a thread and read all about why people hate California and liberals.

You are the first person who is not from a major east coast city I have ever heard that from.

So I looked into that area, man is Lake Norman pretty. Like crazy pretty. Still more expensive out here in SD or LA for the same house but man is it pretty. I could retire there in a heartbeat.

Lots of new rules on Jan 1st 2018 as well. Lots of gun rule changes that I am still trying to figure out exactly or at least have them tell me explicitly what I need to do to be in compliance.
