Black vinyl pinstriping separating factory stripes

Is this only on certain years, ACR, etc?

There is black pinstriping separating the red from the silver stripes on my 2000 ACR. Was just looking at a 2002 ACR in an identical color scheme and it does not have the black vinyl stripping.

Reason I ask is there are a couple spots where the pinstripe is lifting since I bought it on the hood and in order to correct it, a new pinstripe the length of the entire hood would need to be replaced. Then I saw another one without it?

Anyone have any hissssstory or facts on this?

I've never heard of the wipers being deleted on an ACR before.

I'm pretty sure that was done by a previous owner rather than coming that way from the factory.

As was already stated, they didn't come with accent stripes by the main silver stripes.

Factory stripes were painted on.

As others have said here, no way was the ACR Sold without Windscreen Vipers......I mean Wipers, previous owner has removed them.
Also when the factory stripes were painted on they did not blend in the stripes with clearcoat at the factory so it gives the feel of a vinyl stripe! I think the previous owner/owners added the black pinstripe to help to blend that ridge. Enjoy your ride from another Fast red owner :)

Maybe that is why my car is so fast because of weight reduction! JK lol

I swear I read somewhere about the ACR and windshield wipers but may be my mistake! Either way the motors, arms, and reservoir were all removed when I bought it and I drove across the country with no wipers and rainX so I am used to it now :lol2:

Our 99 ACR has full wiper system.

It would not surprise me if someone suffered wiper malfunction, determined high cost of repair/motor replacements, then removed them altogether...later claiming weight reduction and less aerodynamic drag. :)

Given the tradition of dealers putting pinstripes on just about everything in order to add a high profit item, I wouldn't be surprised that perhaps the dealer added those vinyl stripes. They don't look bad, just not stock.

As mentioned all Vipers have come with windshield wipers. I do know a guy with a '99 ACR who pulled his wiper assembly, including the motors. I believe he said it was something like ten pounds...... His car was a non comfort package car, which means it did not have A/C or a stereo system.
