View Full Version : VOI this year????

So my thought is that come the 1st of the year when all the renewals or new sign ups take place I gotta believe that the vca is going to be lacking quite a few members. I'm sure some will join both but alot won't. With this summer supposedly going to have a VOI I wonder if they will cancel it? Surely they aren't the only ones who can produce a VOI.... can we here throw a party but with a different name? Would Chrysler/SRT want anything to do with it? Since the event is only every other year it would be a shame to not have one this year. From what I have heard and read our new club should boast a pretty large membership it's first year along with a good number of venders. I would think there would be plenty of intrest to have one,,,, I know I was planning on going this summer. Just curious.

I would start with baby steps and work up to it. Maybe a few large regional gatherings the first time around.

Yeh! We should plan something, even if only 100 Vipers show up:)
My local Viper group did a Niagara falls trip with 300 Vipers. Alex did an awsome job!

I liked the fact that we payed <$100 to go and hotel/food etc, was on our own!
I had more fun on that trip than anything else I had gone on!

An event in Detroit would be great maybe a smaller version of VOI , as well as solidifying our support for Team Viper . :)

That Saturday in Sept of 09, was one sight I will never forget. Just hearing those cars early in the morning echoing off the buildings. What a rush!!
If there is something in this area, I would be more than happy to help out.

Specifically that! :D I heard it was a wine and cheese tasting. There's a board meeting soon to discuss/approve that. But you didn't hear that from me. I know nothing.

You put in a good word for me with the customs department of Detroit Metro airport? Because last time they almost made me miss my connection by not exactly doing a swift job. Would love to prevent that from happening a second time but without a place to stay at in NY or CT this doesn't look like a possibility.
I would almost kill for another trip to NYC too.

So what about a name we still don't seem to have one? How about keeping it simple and make it Viper Owners Arrival (VOA)?

There's a board call next week. One of the agenda items is approval to move forward with the event. Once that happens all of the details will be made available. Patience grasshoppers. :D

Here is the blurb from the newsletter:
Twenty years ago in July, Chrysler hosted the first Viper homecoming in Auburn Hills, which became the Viper Owners Invitational. Since this club is going back to its roots, we thought it would be appropriate to re-live the original homecoming as our first national gathering.
Chrysler is opening the doors to the Viper plant and their facilities to us and we're heading back to Auburn Hills for the weekend of July 19th. Like the first VOI, this event will not be a track-oriented event, but a social gathering. See how the Viper is built, take a lap around the high-speed oval of their test track, and join us for a cruise to the German town of Frankenmuth. (We're making this spouse friendly.) Of course, every night, there'll be a dinner so you can party with your Viper friends!
Since most of you don't want to stay in downtown Detroit, we've booked the Marriott hotel in Auburn Hills as our headquarters hotel, about 30 miles north of Detroit, in the shadow of Chrysler's headquarters and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. It's not only cheaper there, but the neighborhood is nicer! These are regular-sized hotels, not Casinos, so we'll only be able to accommodate around 500 people in the ballroom. Sign up early if you want to come! Details will follow, but mark your calendar. It's gonna be a fun time!

Question is, how far is too far to drive your car out vs trailer it? Do people show without their cars?
