Discovered this when I opened the battery compartment in the trunk to charge the battery:

24033

The last time I opened that cover was when I picked up the car at Woodhouse. Everything was clean as a whistle.

A few facts:

1. I have NEVER spilled anything in the trunk and no liquid was anywhere inside the car at any point in it's life.

2. I have driven in downpours at least 3-4 times. One time was for 4 hours straight.

Does anyone have any ideas where this came from? It almost looks like it came from UNDER the battery, hit the walls of the compartment and leaked back down. Also, the top of the battery is sparkling clean.

Detail spray or some cleaner spray?

The battery compartment has never been open and the inside of the trunk has never been detailed. The carpet inside the trunk and on the battery compartment cover is sparkling clean.

Near the battery, there is a hole connected to the outside. Dirt and liquid from outside may come into the compartment.

Does anyone have a pic of the compartment with the battery removed? I want to see how big the diameter is and whether I can install something to protect it.

Don't plug it

I won't plug it obviously, it must be some sort of a drain. I want to see if it can be shielded from water. Batteries and water generally dont mix well.

You're supposed to use that hole to put the tube vent from the side battery into....

Stradman, please explain what you mean. What is a side battery? Which tube vent are you talking about?
