Hibernation Mode

It works. Temps warmed up to 40* today so I decided to start up the car and bring everything up to temp. I put it in a Hibernation mode nearly 2.5 months ago. It fired right up without a single issue.

One interesting thing is that it seemed to stay in a Hibernation mode even after running. I couldn't put it "back" into the mode by holding the right arrow, it never gave me the countdown. So it must know the car didn't actually move and kept the mode active.

Next time I fire it up will probably be another 2.5 months from now. At least I know the battery will be just fine.

didn't work for me. Battery wasn't completely dead but it didn't start after one month. As soon as the car fires up it comes out of hibernation mode. You need to put it back into hibernation mode to make it go into it again. If you need help I live in Arlington heights and can help you out. Not sure how far morton is.

I think there are 2 hibernation modes - with alarm/without alarm set. If you keep the alarm set, the light will still flash and drain the battery faster.

Hmm I didn't know two existed. Whatever I activated had a 10 second count down. The alarm wasn't active either. Battery still went down. Needless to say a CTEK charger is constantly on it now :) Good stuff I tell ya

Better solution than the battery charger ........ Florida!!!! This Midwest weather is driving me crazy.

It fired up again today after 1.5 more months of hibernating. Just a quick update because I do think Hibernation mode is doing what it's supposed to and a battery tender isn't needed unless you're not starting it in longer stretches than what I've posted here.

Bumping this to the top. I used this mode (called sleep mode) in my 03, and it worked like a charm. Car could sit for weeks in an unheated garage and fire right off. How do I use this in the Gen 5? I noticed while scrolling through the EVIC yesterday it was there. Do you enter mode prior to shutting car down, or shut down first and then follow the EVIC prompts? I will use normally, as my car can sit for 1-3 weeks at a time, and now the weather is getting colder. I'm not comfortable using trickle chargers.

On my gen 5, I use both: hibernation mode and battery tender. On my gen gen 3, only the battery tender and I'm still with the original battery ;)

My 03 always worked well in this mode. My 13 has now been sitting in this mode for 5 weeks, and with more snow in the forecast, will continue....hope it works! Fingers crossed, don't want to jinx myself!

First nice Saturday in weeks, temps in the 30s, roads a little salty, but its the potholes I have to worry about. All that being said, I couldn't take it anymore! The Viper has been in hibernation mode in my unheated garage, no tender, for 6 weeks today. Got in, and she fired right up like she was just driven yesterday. Put 18 VERY careful miles on her. Of course, some doofus in a Focus at a stoplight yells "light 'er up" at me. Yeah, buddy, right. It was 27 out, on cold Corsas! At any rate, it was great to drive her, and I CAN"T WAIT til spring!
