My husband detailed my new car. Now the drivers door pops open on its own while the car is running. Anyone else have this problem?

We have the fix. Posting pictures shortly. My husband changed the exterior door handle switch in both my Gen 3 cars with a similar problem. He looked and the switches are very similar in the Gen 5.
Door latch propped open with soft rubber fuel line hose. Then a hairdryer to dry the switch. The switch wasn't bad just wet. Next time we wash the car we are going to put 3m painters tape over the door handles. My husband changed those switches on both our gen 3 cars.

Cheap American garbage parts; so frustrating. Leave them in a four or five figure car not a six figure one. Sheesh.

Taping the door handles is effective when washing but what if you get caught in a rain storm like I did not too long ago.
Ridiculous.

Enough people have posted about this that dare I say a recall is necessary so a revisited part can be installed. Those of us with Gen Vs who actually post here is a small percentage of those sold. But this is like the 4th or 5th person to post about it. That's a pretty high percentage. And like Policy said get caught in one rainstorm and this annoyance becomes a major PITA.

If we need to change it then my husband will do the fix not a dealer. He is used to working on our cars and I trust him. We are going to order a service manual so he can see how the door comes apart.

My deal is my husband has been the go to guy for years about Vipers in my area. He sold more viper for his dealer than anyone else. When viper people get stuck we go to the rescue. I would rather have him working on my car than the Dealers

I'm not looking forward to washing mine the first time and even if it doesn't do this the first time wondering about it after that. You would think an electronic switch susceptible to being leaked on would be sealed.
Are all the one's so far 2014 models?

Yep I had the same consistent opening door on my Launch Edition after a wash, Now switch wont work at all, the only way in on passenger side door is to open from the inside.

That is all we need is someone posting a video of a guy forcing his skinny gal to crawl through the rear hatch area to the front seats, just to open the doors after a car wash. I still can't believe it. And here I was going to complain about my doors as they only open from the inside as well as the car is stuck in race mode all the time. :) Sorry you new owners are having to go through this. Crazy stuff!

My Gen III used to always come open by itself when I started up the car. Just got to where I did not shut the door before I started it. Problem fixed.
