The car is new, I took it to get a plastic bra on it then when I brought it home it had this light brown maybe orangeish stuff on the passenger side. I wiped it off and took it out today again for about a 40 mile ride and when I got back it was there again but not as much. I checked everywhere inside the engine compartment and can't find that same looking stuff anywhere but on the outside passenger side. It goes from where the it says viper gt all the way to the far end of the passenger door.... down low also where the rocker panel is.... is it from the tires, brakes, have no clue?

Pretty much all Gen Vs do that. It's rusty water that gets trapped between the carbon and fiberglass layers. After a few washes and drives, it will clear out.

It's water from washing that gets trapped in between the carbon layers of the clam shell. When the car is washed with the hood up it can collect water, and it won't come out until the car is driven. While washing, be careful where you spray on the underside of the hood, specifically around the latches where there are drain holes. If you are careful it will be significantly reduced.

When the car is washed with the hood up? So if I wash the car with the hood closed it won't happen? I haven't washed the car yet I just got it but maybe when the guy did the plastic he did... when I called him and asked if he used anything brownish he said all he used was soap and water.

It has been my experience that when I wash with the hood closed it happens less or not at all. Maybe others will chime in to confirm or refute my findings. It is definitely from water getting inside the hood itself. I think it's a mixture of surface rust from the hood latches and leftover resin dust inside the hood.

Have never seen it on either of my Gen 5s. I've washed them a ton and I've cleaned underneath the hood on both.

This one has been sitting at the dealership for about a year don't know if that could have anything to do with it or if the guy that did the plastic did it but I know I never wash my car with the hood open so hopefully it will stop... it seems like less was on there today than was on there yesterday which means it's going in the right direction...:)

Yes mine was worse on the drivers side. Some cars are worse on one side. It goes away for the most part and it wont stain anything.

This is just like when i took delivery of mine, brown fluid spitting from one of the hood loovers every time i went for a drive, but just disapeared on its own, man i miss mine, houston doesnt make it any better, its warm here year around

That's pretty lame that this is common on GEN V. Anyone ever see where the water is entering to maybe attempt to seal it? My GEN II doesn't do this and seems prehistoric in construction when compared to these GEN V. Definitely would want to sort this out when I get my GEN V.

Ok... This is what I think...... I picked up my 2016 ACR from the factory... Had the car shipped to my home.. .. I only wet rag wiped the car down when it got dirty the first few months and only put about 300 miles on it ,because I have not had time to drive it that much... so it has never been washed with a hose...I have driven the car about 30 times...and I would say I have had the same rust colored water just like the photos about 5 times show up on mine...One time I swore when the dealer replaced one of my tires I thought he drove through a puddle of old rusty radiator fluid from someones car and it splashed on the side of my car...then it happen again another time when I was driven it, I again thought I drove through rusty water...Ok this is just like everyone has posted, the water is coming from the clam shell... and if I were a betting man ( which I am ) when the car has its leak test at the factory, they run it through high pressure sprayers to check for leaks from seals around the windows... This is some of that old water from that original high presser wash from around the clam shell and it is just getting pushed out from the wind when we drive the cars.....It just takes some time and driving for it to go away....My thoughts... I let her dry in the garage with the dehumidifier over night and it never happens, Also I found using an air blower to dry gets all the water out!

I had that happen on my ACR.
On the Competition Blue it shows a lot. Rust color spots all over, worse on the passenger side. I didn't even wash the car yet and it happened when the car had less than 500 miles on.
I washed the car, a couple weeks ago and drove it a little (not much considering all the rain we've been having here) and so far, no dirty stuff coming out from the hood.
No big deal but it is somewhat surprising.

its prolly from the factory plunging water on it from every angle to check leaks, then sitting in the warehouse for months and creating a mucky rust trap somewhere hidden, it will stop in time

It's harmless and it washes right off. It'll stop after a while, mine did it for a month or two.
