Hi all,
Last weekend I installed my Belangers headers and exhaust. Install was thankfully straightforward. Sound is better with a deeper rumble. Not that much louder thankfully-at least for me. I managed to drive the car about 20 miles and no CEL light and everything seems to be good. Now I have heard that headers and exhaust may release about 20 hp and maybe in the whole scheme of things in terms of what the car already has power wise(I have underpully and Arrows PCM and DSE air intake shield) but I can't honestly tell any difference in power. At least from my butt dyno! Well I guess it sounds better though....

There's so much mixed info on exhaust mods on this forum, some have said with your supporting mods like your pcm you can see around 50 to 60 hp increase on the dyno with full bellangers added, but there's no way to know without strapping it to a dyno, so get to one on a cool day and take a picture of the readout and cross your fingers for 590 at the wheels.

My ARH headers and exhaust yielded 1wtq and 12whp over my Arrow ECU only numbers. I don't care what the Internet says, the stock exhaust flows well and you aren't getting 25whp after bolt these components on post tune. The car also felt largely the same, supporting the gains the dyno showed.

disregarding peak power, What about midrange? thats what I would care about. More usable power!!!!

I don't think butt dynos do well for exhaust mods. It is a subtle increase to what you already have. You're probably already at 550-560whp before the exhaust, the exhaust IMO is worth on avg 20-25hp for Belanger.

Have an HPtune done and you will be at 600rwhp/570trq. You will feel a big difference! good luck

Arrow PCM is built and tuned based off of ARH headers.

In my experience the car was noticeably faster.
Traction control light never came in in 2nd or 3rd. After the install, comes on in 2nd and 3rd. WOT obviously.
The power is from mid-range onward. If you don't rev the car i don't believe you will notice a difference.
I had the car tuned a few weeks ago and dynoed 600whp with only Belanger headers.

Also, last year i ran 152.33mph in the 1/2 mile stock. This year I ran 157.89. Definite increase in power from stock to headers/tune.

Can't believe you are driving it on the salted wet roads!

It rained last night and it was reasonably dry my end, And anyway nothing a good undercarriage steam clean couldn't sort out. Its not as if the bloody thing is going to melt overnight you know with a bit of salt!! :o

Don't know how they cant be a lot more efficient.

Look how restrictive the stock system is.

If only that setup could be run without needing to mod the pcm.

There are LOTS of Belanger only cars running around without issues, can you get a CEL? Sure, but more often than not they are perfectly happy with the stock PCM.

I drove my car around for about 2 months with no tune.

I got a CEL twice. Deleted it, and that was the end of it.

It's really not a big deal. The sound and power is completely worth it.

Agree. No question headers and exhaust are now much more efficient and less restrictive. As to how much noticeable difference in power there is that may be subjective. Of course once the weather opens up a bit more here I will have a better opportunity to fully open the car up and I'll report back. And of course my first track day in March will also be the ultimate test.

Yup. I drove my car around for 2 months on ARH headers with high flow cats. Never once got a check engine light up until I got one 2 days before I ended up installing the Arrow PCM. But it was a bank 1 sensor 2 open code. I probably cooked one of the wires. Guess I didn't use enough heat tape.

My car bone stock put down 530 and with headers/exhaust and ECU she belted out 585 on the same dyno (different day though). Let me compare the maps and see if I got more power under the curve as opposed to just peak power

Damn you cooked a wire? Shit! You didn't follow my install!!!!

Does the code come back as soon as you delete it?

LOL I don't know if I did cook one or a wire rubbed through or the sensor just flat out failed. I wrapped the crap out of them in heat tape. When I cleared the code it came back on about 5 miles down the road. The code was P0138 - O2 sensor 1/2 circuit high. An open/high code is usually going to be a broken wire or the O2 sensor itself just failed. The high flow cats didn't case the code. The code you get with the high flow cats is usually something more along the lines of catalytic converter efficiency codes.

As for if it has turned back on....no clue and don't really care. I installed the Arrow PCM....that PCM doesn't look at the downstream O2 sensors. It's as if they never even exist.
