Chrysler Maximum Care extended warranty

Has anyone that bought this extended warranty used it yet and if so what has your experience been?

I have one, though I've not used it yet. I bought mine from Clay Robbins, clay@zellermotors.com, who is on here I believe. Great guy and excellent pricing. He's an ACR owner, so he's "one of us."

I Had it on a 2500 Ram I owned. Never had a problem with them ,though I did not use it much, used the free rental car service when the truck was in service, and had a "0" deductible on repairs. I don't know if all max cares have a "0" deductible.

The lowest deductible that was available for my '13 GTS was/is $100.

You can get a no deductible but its quite a bit higher

i have the powertrain only extended warranty, 7 years instead of 5, i didnt see the need for max care, im just anxiously waiting to see the first engine to pop after warranty runs out to see what happens

So what happens if FCA decides to extend every to 10 years? Do all those warranty payments just go to waste? I was told there was a 60 day reversal period... but if the 10 year extension comes 6 months from now..... $1500-$2000 down the drain?

You can cancel your policy and get refunded on the balance.

sorry let me clarify, I'm specifically talking about the mopar official warranties

That's what i was thinking... Is there a chance that the warranty extensions will disappear, or drastically go up in price? (more than a few hundred bucks)

I can verify with much certainty that if you want to cancel your warranty sometime down the line, you can get a pro-rated refund. They do this all the time when people buy the warranty and then wreck their cars. A totaled car isn't eligible for warranty coverage, and all you need to do is call them and tell them to cancel it. I had the MAX Care on my '08. When I traded it in on my '09 that's exactly what happened. New warranty only cost me $500 on the '09 after refund.

DHX...I demanded a free extended warranty from SRT after my engine blew and they gave it to me. Just an FYI....

I actually have a message in to one of the warranty guys at FCA, waiting for a call back, I politely requested that they give me what everyone else has received.

The power-train warranty covers @300 components. The Maximum Care plan covers 5000+ parts. The power-train is internal lubricated parts only. You can cancel for a prorated refund.

Price increases at 12K miles or 12 months old or whenever they want to raise the price.

While I'm loathe to say what FCA will and won't do a year from now, as it stands today, a warranty can be canceled and refunded on a prorated basis. They will look at the number of miles, and the time left on the warranty to determine what you get back. But, that said, a lot of warranty things aren't as easy today as they were just a few years ago - so buyer beware and try to get it in writing if it isn't already in the warranty terms and conditions.

I had an extended warranty on my 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 that I traded in on my 2014 GTS.

When I cancelled it, I was roughly half way through the warranty time that I had purchased. I got a check back for roughly 1/2 of the total premium that I had paid...No questions asked.

This is law. It is a prorated refund at any time, but the last year I can tell you there won't be much left.

Clay, is it still prorated when you are inside the factory warranty? As far as I know, MaxCare isn't paying for anything while I am in my factory warranty.

I'm not Clay, but I'll comment anyway :) I believe it is prorated because there are some things that you get with MaxCare that you don't get with the factory warranty (like a rental car). I have no idea what algorithm they use to determine how much a warranty is worth at various stages of its lifespan, but I'm 99.9% sure that they do pro-rate it in some way from the first mile and day that it goes into effect.

I've never bought an extended warranty, so, I have not investigated them. Why does a person buy one while they have a factory warranty in place?

As the age/mileage of the car increases the price of the extended warranty also increases. Also the extended warranty start date is the original date of sale of the car. So if you buy it day 1 or day 1000, the end date of the warranty is the same.

That's pretty much the deal. About the only advantage you get out of buying the extended warranty early on is that it's a lot cheaper, and there are some perks to it that you don't get with the standard warranty. For me, the guaranteed rental car was important - I didn't want to have to bug someone to pick me up from the dealership, or take a taxi. The rental car benefit was the biggest deal for me because, as we know, quality control on anything FCA isn't all that great - so when the car is in its first year, there are going to be plenty of reasons to bring it in and have things done. If you time it right where several things get done at once, they have to keep the car long enough to allow the rental car provision to kick in.

As an aside, I always get the longest time duration warranty with the lowest mileage allowance possible. I think the 7 year 50,000 mile is the best deal these days for a Viper. If they offered a 10 year 50,000 mile, I'd jump on that...
