I know there has been a similar thread, But I am talking about a NEW ACR E specifically.

Knowing, what is known about the car , when do you think will be the best time to purchase an ACR E merely from a "lowest price stand point" ?

The Question is in general, as I know there are factors which affect individual cars.

Do you believe they have already hit their lowest point ?

Are they at their lowest point right now ?

Will they hit their lowest point within a year ?

or will they drop in price after a year ?

Would like to know your reasoning behind your thoughts .

You die a little each day & when you're dead you're dead for a very long time. Go for it.

Good perspective , to some extent.

Maybe I should ask when am I going to die ? You would probably say, within 1 year of your last Birthday............

If you're buying within a year I'd say now is as good as any time to do so. You didn't say new or used, at the moment I'd say the same about both.

As I have a friend in the market looking for a new ACR-E as well, I would say ASAP. You just can't tell the future and even though they have apparently "re-opened" ordering for vipers again, I haven't heard of 1 person being approved by dodge to make the car other than those that placed their order and were locked out a couple months back so they had outstanding orders already. Dealers do have cars coming in which they ordered before the shut down so there are some floating around, but I assure you that the market has changed on these from a few months ago and no one is willing to deal under MSRP anymore. A couple are even asking over MSRP.

Best time........imho, yesterday! Your selection will be more and more limited as time goes on and do you really want to buy a used ACR when you can have a new one now?

Do you believe they have already hit their lowest point ?

If you want to have some good choice in color and equipment.....ASAP.

If it is more important that you save a few thousand and pick up some less attractive and sought after combo, then wait until next spring

Much later than that I suspect that there simply wont be many more new ones to pick from.

I really don't think dealers will have a hard time selling their inventory and it always amazes me that for some reason, threads get started to let others that someone saved a few dollars on a purchase more often than threads about how someone found exactly what they were looking for. Sure, they may have paid a little more but for a car of this caliber and amortized over some time, does that really matter ?

Get what you want....Now

If you can afford one then get what you want now! It would make a nice new year present to yourself :)
As others have said you have a better choice of options.

12/31/18, Gerry Wood will be down to a few leftovers he'll want to move cheap before the end of the year. Purchase price; invoice less holdback, less $6500

Even if there were some $ amount to be saved, lets say, buying one a year and a half from now.....question would be, would that $ amount be worth the enjoyment the car could have given you in that time. This is car is so new and the fact that theres not really another like it on the market, it baffles me that these questions would cause a dilemma to anyone interested. I understand to each their own and maybe how the buyer is going to use that product but that being said, life is short. Member Kverges comes to mind.

Post 2 is your best advice. Life is short, live while you have life.

2019 when the 2020 GenVI Viper is unveiled. You will then be able to pick up a GenV ACRE with under 5,000 miles for $90K! Oh sorry.... it won't be "New".

If you're picky about getting exactly what you want, your odds are better now than they will be right before summer. If you're super picky, I'd be camping out at the dealer and waiting to get exactly what you want through the 1 of 1 program when people get back to work over there.

Otherwise, if you're not so picky, I think we'll see a deja vu of what happened in 2010. Lots of inventory coming in, some of it not so desirable (just in my opinion) and those units will sit. I still kick myself for my Gen IV ACR experience where I ordered exactly what I wanted, paid for that luxury, and then saw some really nice units sitting around and eventually going for $20k off of MSRP. Never thought that would happen with the "end of the Viper" and the Chrysler bankruptcy - but it happened. If you wait until the end of next summer and there are still units out there, there will be deals to be had. I'm thinking seriously about setting aside some cash to pick up a second one, wrapping it, and using it as a dedicated track car. Heck, even if it was originally pink when I find it sitting on a dealer lot, I can spray wrap it and make it look like whatever I want for minimal cost.

Viper orders are closed. You can't order a 1-of-1 Viper or any other Viper for that matter. The only options are to see what the Big 4 (now including Gerry Wood) have incoming or in-stock or buying used.

I think this is very wise advice. There are going to be 2-3 cars left at the big dealers that for whatever reason will not have sold. It will likely be September-December before we get there. Clearly, those will be the "absolutely least desirable cars" (after all, with national exposure no one wanted them) and will be able to be purchased at or below cost. The interesting part for us is that we have no idea which cars those will be at this point because we are seeing momentum in all ranges of the Viper.

I will say that the GT car is the slowest moving today, and can be bought with the largest discount currently. We have only 2 left, and that spec is no longer available for order. Plus, it represents the most affordable Viper at this time. ACR-E will sell out regardless of spec. because it's worth double what FCA charges for it! The special editions will also be sold out because they are special and ultimately very collectable. The GTS, GT cars are your best bed for a "deal".

Our website has all our inventory at www.GerryWoodViper.com and we've market all cars that are sold and not available with the first photo showing the sold tag. If there is not a tag, either it's available today or we sold it in the last 24 hours and the data feed hasn't taken place.

The issue with that is, and always is, that what won't sell well new will not carry good resale. Those packages/options/colors will be the hardest to sell or have the lowest trade values later in life.

What you save today will be lost in the future, and you'll have settled for that spec.

If we can help in any way email our lead Viper guy Travis Williams (he's sold dozens of cars to people on this forum and they love him) twilliams@gerrywoodauto.com.

Regardless of when and from which dealer, get a Viper... you'll not regret it!
