Tire Letters

I've seen some Vipers who have put the white letters on their tires. I am intrigued by this look and think some of these car really look good with them on. Curious as to how many member have them on and could share pictures of theirs. Also, anyone on here good with Photoshop and could maybe just throw them onto my Viper in the pics below?

Thanks for the pics! What did you set run you? I looked at the tredwear website and they looked pretty pricey.

About $30.00 a tire, a guess it depends on what you are spelling out. Not cheap but much better than the paint or sticker type.
These are pretty permanent as you have to scuff up the tire and they go on with a crazy glue type adhesive.

I'd just be looking to get the Pirelli PZERO on them. $30 a tires isn't bad. When I looked at the website they were quoting over $200ea tire, so I must have been doing something wrong.

I've seen cars with those huge white letters on their tires driving on the road. When rotating at speed it makes the car look like it has 1950s wide whitewall tires on it. It sure does look odd and out of place on a sports car.

I've had a very positive response from Viper owners and the general public on the look.
Maybe you're just thinking about how out of place it would look on your Honda?

Nope. I think that I saw it on a Gen V at a cars and coffee show, and thought that it looked good, in "display" mode. I saw a car on the freeway last Saturday displaying the wide white sidewall look at speed, and thought that was not a good look at all. So, I posted my opinion, thinking that people might want to consider that part of the look, if they hadn't thought about it. Just my 2 cents.

They are making a comeback. I run our C&C and we are seeing a few more each month. I tried it (red/silver GTS). However, when I replaced my BBS wheels with the GenV Venoms and Pirelli's, I have yet add a set of stickers and probably won't. Otherwise, my old cruising buddy goes from mild to wild at a drop of a hat (see the black/silver GenIV). I will say that I have always liked them on the Viper that a FB member has, see his BW. Give it some consideration, you can also get different colors, sizes, etc. Good luck.

I like em... GenII and GenV are retro looking cars inspired by the Shelby Daytona Coupe so it works IMO. They wouldn't work on my Bumble Bee but I bet they'd look great on my Silver Blue Gen2. It's due for tires so who makes 18' raised white letter tires for the Viper ?

Another option are tire stickers. They don't last s long as the pre cut glue on letters but you can get various designs.

They are very thin stickers and eventually fade out to yellow colour as the tire oil seeps through the sticker which actually gives them a better race look. However when you turn the steering in a tight spot it will put strain on the stickers and they can peel/ tear.

Looks good, I thought of using a paint pen also! Have you tried cleaning the tires since? Do they stay pretty white?

I clean them every week during the summer.
As long as I don't rub on the tires letters with the sponge they're alright.
Only had it for half a summer and it showed no tendency of going yellow.
But my car is always in the garage when I'm not driving it.

Saw some on an all black Cayman the other day and they looked pretty cool.

The Tredwear letters are real rubber so they give you the raised letter look where as the stickers and paint don't. I helped someone put on the decal type and was really unimpressed. Very thin and easy to distort. They look okay from a distance but the real rubber of the Tredwear look much better up close. Lots of videos out there on the Tredwear install. They provide you with a sort of tracing paper to help position the letters in the correct arc. You can scrub them as well like you would a real raised letter tire. As long as you remove the tire pimples they will overlay on top of the manufacturers lettering.

The key is to get the right size. As they say on their site the number one mistake is getting too big. The sidewall is pretty small on Viper tires you don't want to look huge and silly. My fronts shown above are only 5/8" tall but fit perfect in the sidewall. And still stand out.

I mean there's no way they fit 100% perfect in the original tire letters.
Whereas using a pen will get you that 100% look for less mmoney.
It holds up good. 2 layers when applying it the first time then touch up once or twice a year if you're picky.

Because one looks like a pen and one looks like raised white letters as per the original tires? If thirty bucks a tire is too much by all means draw them on.

This definitely looks good imo.
No need for "raised" letters.

I used a small tin of white enamel modelers paint, I got fed up with having to keep re doing the letters.
