I am considering filling up with no ethanol 93 octane or higher octane unleaded fuel. Can any of these fuels damage the vehicle with its compression ratio of 10.2:1?

its better for it!

just dont use leaded race fuel.

O and let me know where and how much you find 93 unleaded for. since we are very close :)

No ethanol is much better than having ethanol in the gas. The octane rating is what counts - and how they get to the rating is dependent on what they put in the gas to get there. Ethanol has a very high octane rating, but it has a low energy content and can screw up your fuel system. Expensive petroleum products have a high octane content, and also have a high energy content - and are easy on your fuel system. So, if you can find no-ethanol high octane gas, that's the way to go...

I tried a couple tanks of no ethanol lead free 98 (or 100, can't remember) last summer. Didn't notice a difference.

I'm sure engineers account for the 10% Ethanol fuels in today's vehicles so you'll be fine with it. I have heard ethanol free fuel will help with MPGs slightly.

Corn based Ethanol has half the BTU's of Gasoline . IMHO it wouldn't be my first choice .

The lower energy content in ethanol will lead to poorer MPGs (takes more gas to move the car the same distance) but the really important thing is that the lower energy content leads to less HP at the wheels at WOT. People scratch their heads all the time about why California cars always dyno badly... Well, garbage in, garbage out... You put low energy gas in the car, and you're not going to magically have full energy at the wheels.

Chevron seems to be really good about not putting ethanol in their gas, and if you go with 100 octane race gas, VP Racing Fuel is pure petroleum product. Won't make any difference if the car is calibrated to run with 91 octane gas, but if you have a tune that takes advantage of the timing and high compression, you can see some really good improvements with the high-octane, pure gas, stuff.

MoparBoyy - Charlie's in Satellite Beach, FL has 92 or 93 octane ethanol free. Bought a tank a couple of weeks ago.

93 Octane is probably the preferred rating for a Viper, just not readily available. 91 Octane ( with or without ethanol ) is perfectly fine though.

I think it is correct to say that I won't see any power gains without a turbo or supercharger regardless of the octane if the car is not tuned for that. Is that a correct statement?

The G5 has knock retard, therefore, when the pcm senses knock caused by high air temps, high coolant temps, high IAT or high altitude it may try to limit hp. That is why 93 is the best choice. At sea level in Alaska, 91 is fine.
