I really like the look of the ACR-E wheel vents and considering making a modification to the GTS hood to spice it up a bit. I did some crude mock ups. I have a white GTS with TA 1.0 aero.

What do you guys think?

I thought someone posted that Prefix would do the conversion for approx. 5k on your hood.

5K for cutting two holes? I must be misunderstanding

That was me. I had them quote painting a 100% finished carbon fiber 6 vent hhod and adding the holes. They were going to leave 2 stripes in exposed Carbon fiber

Paint with 2 exposed stripes was $3k
Hole modification was $1k

If you brought your painted stock hood in I bet it would be more like $2K-$3k for paint touch up and the holes.

im the type to never try and make something what its not, and i know that 2 acr wheel vents in no way will make it an acr but its a step in that direction, i would just make improvements that stay inline with the gts trim and spruce it up as such.

I will tell you that the vents will get stuff all over the car if there is anything wet on the road. It just pours through those vents. If you drive a lot this may not be the best thing if you like keeping your car clean. It also throws up a lot through the vents just driving in nice weather. I do like the look however. Good luck with whatever you decide

Normally I would agree and understand completely where you are coming from. I would never add ACR stripes to a GTS for example.

But I am ok with TA aero added to the GTS.....or ACR wheels on a GTS. I already added diffuser fins to the rear. I now many will add ACRE wings if/when they are made. Not sure where this mod falls on the poser vs. cool list...lol

If it was an option more people than not would add it than not. The GTS hood just needs a little more aggression and this mod certainly would make the car unique! I think I am leaning towards doing it.

Very cool, do it! Who are you going to have do it? I would do this on my '13 if it was reasonable....

It would be a great product idea for someone to offer some kind of cover (maybe on bottom side so they are not visible) that closes up the vents for over the road. Or maybe someone could make a set that look the same but are closed off so the car stays clean. The openings are only needed for aero on the track. I would think everyone with an ACR would buy them.

I also would say that adding the vents just for looks, after the delivery, to a non-ACR extreme Viper, dilutes the specialness of the ACR extreme ownership. Just my two cents.

You got me to thinking though. I could get those vents painted on the fenders of my S2000. A good airbrush artist that can do 3D shading could work some magic.

My first thought when I read that was a metal screening to keep large rocks from flying through, but it would be easy enough to cover from the inside with something solid...

Nice styling touch.

The fender vents are on the gen5 ACR, but by no means a gen5 ACR exclusive item, they're a Viper item, they predate the gen5 ACR by many years, all of us early gen owners had fender vents, these are just a return to that with FCA limiting it to the ACR extreme model.

So IMO, it fits on any viper, because they used to come on all Vipers. Saying it dilutes the gen5 ACR to me is silly, it's the current ACR that's stealing that fender vent from previous gens ... does it dilute those? Nah.

Love it.

Interesting note on the dirt aspect, I figured that myself, again from previous gen ownership. A great solution for that would be a hot item for sure.

I like the idea of something fitting on the bottom.......carbon fiber

You are right.....it would be a hot seller

Gorgeous. I prefer the carbon vents over the white vents. This will look great in carbon to match the TA 1.0 carbon bits...

Neat.....I would think the thing to do is get a second hood to do this on....keep the first if you want to sell the car as a GTS....or tire of the look.

Your car, your idea, your money and choice. I say do it if that's what you like. I'll be following this thread because I'm thinking about doing the same thing.
