How long before the car build is the engine built

Title is my question. If a viper is built say in August, when would the engine have been built, roughly speaking?
I'm wondering if it's more just-in-time, so like a month before, or do they have like 100 in crates sitting from 6-12 months ago, waiting for a car to go in? Thx.

My understanding was they are built as the car is being built? I could be very wrong....

I was at Arrow last year I would have to say about 2weeks before the car is built.

They are built right at the plant there alongside the Vipers. When I took the tour in June I saw several sitting there but not like a ton of them. I would guess like Viper Vince said a couple weeks before the car is built hard to say...

I thought they were actually assembled at Arrow well in advance, and then shipped to the plant? So when a replacement engine is needed, I guess it is built that time as well.

I think this is the way it was, but not on the gen5, which is why I was confused, or I'm wrong, lol.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an ACR and just wanted to confirm if it's build date was Aug, then it would have an engine built after the Jan install of the block washing process, which my go to experts have told me is the safest and smartest route to take on trying to get a problem free engine, so I'm not considering any car with an engine built prior to Jan 2016, just my personal approach.

Not sure if this helps but I had my engine replaced in mid May and I took a picture of the replacement engines packing crate. The date showing the engine was pkg was 2016/01/22 also have a package date of 1/26/16 showing. My guess is there are engines assembled well before they are married to the car.

I'm not sure if it's the same for replacements. I've been told that FCA did assembly of several engines as spares right when the washing station was put into use. It may be you got one of those. Which would be a good thing.

I wonder if you can tell assembly date of the engine by the serial number on the block?

Assembled at CAAP like stated above. They are then sent to Arrow for some cell time. They check for leaks and make sure it's within 3% of the 645 then they are sent back to CAAP..
