Downforce and trick tires, but a lot of research/testing in each regard, like studying how the air moves along the added spoiler and how it would unnecessarily dance off the edges and thus adding the caps at the end, you know.... the little things

That's 21 long dry minutes.

Erich Heuschele was telling us they couldn't physically make the ACR (in its current chassis) any faster.

I wish I could remember why they were rolling tires off the beads during testing. I was a but under the influence when this convo took place...

Personally, I rather enjoyed that video clip. I thought it was pretty cool to see how that math adds up. God stuff. Thanks for posting it :)

Hmmmm...They could have been a bit more extreme in the weight loss category and that would have made the car a little easier on the tires and faster imho. But I'm not an engineer.

I'm sure he failed to mention "in current production form" L0L. The next huge limiting factor being the chassis..

I met Jason at this years SEMA show.....nice guy. Makes his living off his youtube channel. Pretty crazy to think that over 100 million people have watched you explain stuff.

Hehe. Well production form could have come with super light carbon seats, 10lb battery and Ti exhaust. That would have optimized this platform to the best without messing with its structure.

No BS, just pure science. Funny thing is that the net as we know it, with regards to car forums would be pretty concise if people had his calculating capabilities. Johnny claims X, Steve proves his fallacy mathematically.......... end of thread.

I subscribe to his videos. That one is a bit long but it's kind of cool that he did that.
Some of his other videos are actually quite cool (CVT, suspensions etc...)

He is really on the ball with the math. But there is no way a 488GTB weighs 1450kg. Maybe completely dry and with no tires but 1550-1570kg wet is what most owners report.

Thus sending bean counters into refried status. TE HE HE

That would have been nice to know before it happened to me!

I'm a mechanical engineer and this type of effort is what first drew me to the ACR as my be all end all dream street car. For years I've been frustrated reading troves of ignorant comments from keyboard commandos about how the ACR can't possibly be that quick stock or if X car had the same tires it would be quicker than the ACR. I guess now I can just comment with this video link and let it do the talking haha.

Looking at Pobst times since the record 1:28 at Laguna, every run since then has progressively gotten slower with the last run for Best Handling street car being done at a comparatively leisure 1:31 lap. So math is great but its up to the driver to extract all that performance.
