Bendpak lifts any experience with them

I have a long narrow garage, 38x23 with a hair less than 11' ceilings.

I was considering installing two of these single post AC lifts (https://aclifts.com/products-2/parking-lifts-2/maximumone-single-post-car-lift-model-m1-4-5-and-m1-6-5/) so when I need to get my longhog f350 in the garage for something I don't have to worry about posts in the middle of the garage. Then I came across this Bendpak HD-9SW lift (http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/four-post-lifts/hd-9sw.aspx) and think this is likely the way I will go.

I read some reviews in various sites that Bendpak has been scorned for advertising "made in America" when parts are not made in America, however they seem to have a good reputation as far as the functional side of the reviews.

Comments with Experience with this brand, and other brand names is appreciated.

I have a 14,000 lb high lift 4 post Bendpak in my shop... Compared to the other brands for hobbyists and home shops sold locally, the Bendpak is built heavier and is better quality.
The only issue I had was on the delivery and original install. They listed the shipping weight in lbs when it was actually KG's which meant it showed up and it was 2.2 times heavier than it was supposed to be. My Skid steer wouldn't pick it up to unload it. One of the steel cables was wrong and they had to ship another one out, which they did the next day. Other than that, its been troublefree, it lifts my loaded one ton truck with no issues.
They have all the US approvals on the products, but they are made somewhere else.

I have been looking at this company "Advantage Lifts" for a lift, seems very well designed and lots of videos about assembly.

I have come to them after ruling out many lift makers (like above brand, due to failures).

"made in America" includes North, South and Central America, it does not say "made in USA"

I am not sure I would trust a 9000 pound lift with 2 cars on it. A 4 post lift may be your only option but it does kill a lot of floor space due to it's design. I have helped a friend of mine who sells lifts repair some Bendpak lifts- slider blocks and cables. They are Ok but some of the parts are less than high quality and not really meant for everyday use. This lift seems to be made for storing cars only and if that is your goal it might be fine for you. I would urge you to go see one somewhere before you buy it. And there is this at the bottom of their page "*Not all BendPak lift models meet the standards as prescribed by ANSI/ALI ALCTV-2006 or ANSI/UL 201. Consult www.autolift.org for a complete list or contact BendPak via contact@bendpak.com" It may not matter but safety is very important when lifting 8-9000 lbs!!

I read that yesterday it was an eyebrow raiser, and one of the things that spawn this thread.

To also clarify, the lift would be used as a hobby/storage type lift, definitely not used daily. There is easily enough room with the footprint of this lift to park the daily family wagon in front of this lift/4 cars.

I have an Advantage 4-post lift, in 9000# XLT trim, and have been happy with it. They offer either 110 or 220 on the power, which makes it more versatile on placement in my garage by not being anchored to a 220 outlet. Only downside to the 110 is a slower lift rate, but it is not a race anyway so that is okay with me. Advantage are the guys that make the Mecum circuit, which is where I first came across them. They are no longer 100% made in USA though.

Bendpak is garbage. I use it at my business. They are built beefier and do great marketing. Don't be fooled. The brake release cable is dangerously designed. And we've been through 2 resisters already and it's maybe 3 years old. Get a Rotary and be done with it. I've been around them for 24 years and there is a reason why every car dealership service department uses Rotary.
