The latest Gen V Product from DSE is a quick and easy way to keep your battery on charge without opening the hood.
This is a bolt-on connector mount (I am calling it a "flag" for obvious reasons) with associated harness. The flag will be made from 6061 aluminum and bolts directly to the car with no modifications. The design of the flag is such that it is easy to access and plug in your battery tender (or other) charger from the driver side gill next to the hood release. I found the angle shape and location were key to this ease of access.
The wiring harness includes a fuse and is already the correct length for easy installation. The SAE 2 Pin connector has a dust cap to keep it clean and dry. All ty-wraps and stainless steel hardware are included with the kit. Everything is black and near invisible when installed to the untrained eye.
I have to give credit to the idea to SM who mentioned this idea a while back but as soon as I got the car I felt it was a definite improvement over opening the hood and fuse box cover every time I parked. I always keep the Viper on a battery tender to avoid issues over time or having to put it in hibernate mode.
These kits are available for PRE-ORDER now from my website @ $85 each. ETA is probably 6 weeks away, so likely mid-December. Scroll to the bottom... http://www.dougshelbyengineering.com/viper.html
Attached photos show the quick and dirty mock-up with a rapid prototype flag.
Thanks
Doug
