Took my 15 TA 2.0 to the dealer this morning to get diff fluid changed. I gotta say that I really love this car. Ran like a top and it has 10,048 miles on it. The TA 2.0 is perfect for me. Still aggressive looking even though an ACR would kick its butt on the track. On the other hand I have more tire choices and it doesn't eat a set of tires every time I go to the track.
I'm still bummed that so many people are spinning bearings and I'm bummed at how long it takes to get warranty work approved. It is also a pain that when you do need a part it typically is on back order. None the less, these cars are a hoot to drive. The good news is that my local dealer has been great to deal with for service work.
Bottom line - while it is easy to get wrapped up in all the BS coming out of FCA these cars are simply great to drive. People giving you thumbs up all the time, slowing to take pictures, and the thrill of hitting that gas pedal just a little bit more is awesome.

Love my TA 2.0, too. Viper is a car that you will forget all the issues once you start driving it.:very_drunk:

It's a great car with great history and the driving experience that it gives is very rewarding. You don't see much of that these days.

I agree. I haven't driven my car in a couple weeks, and hope to get it out on Saturday. In spite of everything, as soon as I press that go pedal, it's a helluva rush. The power, handling, looks....nothing like it. Thanks for the positive post George!

I don't have a problem with the car or it's quirks/issues. My problem is with how FCA is handling it.
That being said, I love Viper...don't plan on getting rid of the Gen 5 anytime soon.....unless I replace with another Gen 5. There will never be another car like it.

I will admit the warranty issue have kinda taken a little of the fun out of ownership. I have been a Viper fan when they first came out. I had the posters on my wall in high school, the model cars on the shelf, etc. When I finally got to a position in life where I could finally buy my Gen V (in June of this year) I was so excited and had a mod list all planned out.
Arrow PCM was to be installed along with long tubes and exhaust.....but then suddenly the issue's with warranty started to arise now I have shelved all those plans. Probably just going to throw a set of Corsa's on her and call it a day but in protest.
But all in all I still love my Viper and enjoy the hell out of it. I actually daily drive mine. My girl and I were actually talking at dinner the other day about me buying another car to make a daily. She goes I know how much you love the car.....you would still basically daily drive the Viper....don't waste your money on a 2nd car. She knows me so well.

Just get some miles on her and monitor the oil. If it looks good maybe put those parts on in time. Totally changes the driving experience for the better. Warranty is very important but more initially. Unless a car is an r28 (which mine is) and stock, I could understand the allure of security for having a 10 yr warranty. I honestly wouldn't trade mine for a stock TA just for assurances though. Not happy either with fca but love the car because the people who championed this car into existence truly understand the core Viper fanatics.

Mine is a 2013 with 4100 miles currently and it only has the r29 recall. I monitor the oil closely and since the last oil change I have not lost much if any oil. Plus not much has really been in the catch can so I am hoping I have one of the better motors fingers crossed.
I actually checked my oil 2 days ago and even said the same thing to myself that maybe I would be ok with the Arrow. My bumper to bumper warranty just expired 2 weeks ago. But my powertrain is still active. I am going to let it hang out a couple more thousand miles see how it does.

I agree. No matter the car (unless it's a Honda Civic or something), you always hear horror stories and feel good stories.
I wish FCA was handling the warranty issue a little differently but they must have their reasons.
I usually really like to mod my cars and normally, I don't care about the warranty but my other cars aren't 6 figure cars either.
My diff is bad and it will get replaced hopefully sometimes soon but despite that, I absolutely love the car. It's always been a dream car and what was a dream car became a reality after just about 25 years. If my motor goes, I'll get it replaced but that certainly won't change my opinion towards the car.
I think that as Viper owners, we are incredibly lucky to drive those amazing cars. There's nothing like it, especially not at that price; I'm sure that driving a 918 is a blast but I certainly can't afford a $1M car :D

ViperGeorge how did you get the stripes on the wing painted? In process of one now and would also like the wing to be painted with stripes.

Sorry, gotta admit, they are Vinyl from Viper Specialty. I was going to eventually get them painted but they look good enough to me in vinyl.

It is a spectacular fall day here in Chester County, started off in the 30s, but now in the 60s. I took about a 30 mile drive after C&C this morning, and the car still excites. It's like I can think it, and the car will do it. 11,488 miles on her now, and still nothing like it! Hope I can continue to make posts like this (knock wood) in the future!
It's funny, I had to run an errand a few minutes ago, and the Ram (which at 395 hp is no slouch) and I was thinking I left the e-brake on or something, it just felt so slow all of a sudden!
I agree and love my acre. Amazing how hard it accelerates over 5k rpms; full ludicrous speed!

Took mine out today. Still under 100 miles but first time in an area with a lot of people. A small boy rolled his window down and said I like your race car, people were pulling into the parking lot just to get a closer look, someone walked into the street holding his phone taking a pic, many honks and waves, and a nice lady in a mustang constable asked what kind of car it was while we were driving next to each other. I think in that one trip I got more attention than in years of ownership of the 08. Very happy to be back in a Viper after a few months without. Can't wait for enough miles to get out of the speed / RPM restriction.
FCA and the "new and improved" SRT management team has darkened the Viper experience for sure, but there is no other car that I can think of that would replace mine....coming up on 20k miles and still NOT looking for my next car :D

I love my car and would never replace it account some people are having mechanical issues.
I am in the habit now of checking my oil every time I drive it.

Good to see that people are keeping their heads up, and god bless those of you that haven't had a blow engine, which I think is safe to say those that have commented in this thread so far (let me know if I'm wrong). I think having that happen changes your perspective, yes more about FCA's poor handling of these situations than the Viper name, but it's much easier to love this car when that hasn't happened. Assuming I do get a new engine approved and get the car back eventually, I'm inclined to baby the hell out of it for a while in the beginning and there will always be that voice in the back of my mind that will scream caution, and expect something else to go wrong with the car.
It's almost like the feeling you have when you've been in a bad accident where you don't do the same things because of your reflexes, or when you get pulled over for going so fast that you actually drive the speed limit going home.
Let me just end the post on a lighter note that, after so far having driven this current generation of the Viper, there is no doubt there will never be anything like it and it will always be the greatest car in the world. Even if I was driving the greatest hypercar in the world, when I see a Viper it would put a smile on my face. I guess it just remains to be seem if I will be doing it from the driver's seat of a Viper as well or not.

Eugene, good to see you keeping your head up! I'm sure FCA will eventually approve the new motor. It's a shame driving season is coming to an end, but I know that next spring you'll be back on the road (sooner that that, weather permitting!)

I've had my car for six months, 7000 miles, three track days and one set of corsa's. I haven't lost any sleep over possible problems or worried about the resale value, I have just enjoyed the most exciting car I have ever owned. Life is good.

Just wanted to clarify before anyone comes asking; these did NOT come from VSP. I am not sure which vendor may have supplied them for you...?

Same here... besides all the negative crap around here I really love my Viper. Everyone loves the clean lines of it and it's a blast to drive.
