View Full Version : Is it still possible to order a GTC now

Well, long story short, have been wanting a Viper for a very long time, was going to order one earlier this year but had to stay oversea for a while.
Will be back in the states next week and want to see if anyone can comment on the Viper market right now.

I heard ordering was halted in late Sept for ACR and early Oct for regular Vipers, are they re-opened yet? And is it still possible to order a GTC now? (Basically planning on getting an ACR Extreme Aero in Stryer Purple)

Also, I know last year some dealers were offering discounts on the Vipers, what's the market like right now?

A buddy of mine was checking out the Hellcats this weekend and that dealer he went to was pretty clueless about what's going on with the Viper right now, so hopefully someone here could shed some light on this, you guys are likely the most informed people about this subject on the planet! :dude3:

My understanding is the ACR option is no longer available, but the others like TA are.
You could send a message to viperhelp@drivesrt.com for clarification.

You are correct ACR GTC ordering halted in late September and on hold for now. The program may or may not return. I think TAs like Sharmut said are still available not sure myself. I doubt you'll get any discount from any dealer on a Viper since they know the Viper for now is not coming back. Some dealers do have a large inventory like Gerry Woods with lots of colors but no Stryker Purple I've checked...Good luck I hope you find what you want!

In Canada we are completly down.
My Dealer never got an opening to order a 2017 Viper of any type.
Should I frame my $15,000 voucher and hang it on a wall,...or use it as toilet paper ? !!!

Ask your dealer if he'll buy a car from our inventory and sell it to you and use your coupon. I have no idea if Chrysler Canada will allow that. We can try.

I believe only 85 +|- Vipers were sold in all of Canada last year. That was demand, not production or allocation. You'll have limited company up there at car shows!

www.gerrywoodviper.com is our selection.

SilveRT8 - This might be a dumb question, but are those $15k vouchers transferable by any chance? Im considering picking up a nice new ACR Extreme in the near future and would to use someone's voucher if it is transferable.

Not transferable, but my thoughts on it is you could make a deal with someone with a coupon. For example. They buy $100k car for $85k and sell to you immediately for $92,500. Get's tricky with sales tax, but I am sure there is some way around it... depending on state.

You'd both pay sales tax no way avoiding that.

If they live in Delaware, Montana, Oregon, New Hampsire or Alaska it's easy...

w12x......I would wait and see what transpires over the next month or two. Hopefully you will be able to order the car you want and not have to settle for one a dealer put together. Everyone has an opinion and I will state mine( no offense to anyone ). The 1 of 1 program was for the viper owners to order the car of their dreams and exact specifications. The actions of one dealer has taken that option away. I am not sure what FCA was thinking to allow such a move. If FCA had surplus building capacity at the end of the 2017 year run, then I would not have had a problem with FCA giving dealers the choice to order more cars as inventory at that point.

It sure is sad. It bascaly takes away the whole point of the 1 of 1 program...Shame on you FCA.

The ordering bank was open for 10 days. I wish it was opened longer as I didn't want to commit to an order without knowing the exact pricing. I missed out ordering a GTC ACR. I wish (hope) Chrysler Canada can get us more allocations for Canada.

The above post is the third in this thread of someone being unable to order a car.....I feel FCA should revoke the VINs of the NC dealer and make sure Viper enthusiasts get the opportunity to have the car of their dreams.

Are you suggesting that the FCA should take orders away from Gerry Wood?

If so, that's just silly. Gerry Wood has been nothing but an asset to this community and put his neck on the line by ordering all of those Vipers. Are some people not going to be able to order their dream car? Probably but they had time to order and simply didn't for whatever reason. That's on them, not Gerry Wood.

At the end of the day Dodge could have shut off Viper orders 12/31/17 and people would still be upset.

The system has been F'ed up for ten years now. I'm still waiting for my 2007, and every time I call my dealer, I get a "this number is no longer in service" message. It's a conspiracy if I've ever seen one.

I am not upset....I just think that the FCA should have not allowed dealers to do this until towards the end of the production cycle. That way the people that wanted to order 1 of 1s had the opportunity to do so and then give the left over production ability for the dealers to order the rest.

With all due respect to Mr. Wood, the entire premise of the 1 of 1 viper and concierge service which was for the owners is now pointless. How many people were planning on ordering a viper and now cannot do so?

You're not alone in your displeasure with this. But, it is what it is, and there are so many more things to worry about in life, this is one that's definitely a first-world problem. Granted, I flipped out when I thought my order got cancelled (I was right on the cutoff, and if I had ordered a custom color I would have been screwed and VERY pissed). Think of it this way - at least we have more dealer stock (or slightly used) Vipers to get when the inevitable over-supply happens at the end of next summer. I'm definitely thinking about picking up a second ACR-E for pure track usage if the price is right. I'm getting less and less enthusiastic about putting that car that I spent countless hours deliberating over on the track. Seems much easier to run the piss out of something that doesn't have such sentimental value.

To me, the Viper is a car that I would get it in the exact option that I wanted, or I would not get one at all, so unless there is a Stryker Purple ACR-E with no stripes, I will probably just move on but it sure will be a shame not being able to get one.

^this, i usually wait till winter to make my purchases and being 2016 I thought I easily could get into 2017 one of one. I looked at the gerry wood website and they don't have a custom color configuration that I'm interested in, the only way I get into one of theirs would be with a considerable discount and I highly doubt that's happening, I suppose it is a kick in the crotch but this dealer did step up and fill significant production deficit that FCA was obviously concerned about I suppose it be great if they open it up for an additional 10 or 20 or 30 or 40 people however many of us were sitting on the fence The only great thing I can say is that there are so many fantastic car options out there that I'm not too sad

Probably about three people. The others just want to pretend they were all set to pull the trigger but oh nooooo now I can't. If you really wanted to own one you already would.

I get the desire to spec one as you wish, but before the 1 of 1 program you had pretty few options and most folks were satisfied. I'm glad there were no other options for the '14 TA other than 3 colors as that was tough enough!

It seems like a shame that the decision to purchase such a unique and over the top performance car could be put off based on color or stripe when so many different ones are available. I think if I genuinely wanted an ACR-E the selection would have to be down to Hot Pink or something like that before I'd switch to another platform.

It would be interesting to see a list of other cars that can be personalized like in the Viper 1 of 1 program.
