Only because I couldn't find all the same information in the same place, here is the weight comparison between a set of OEM Sidewinder 2 wheels vs. a set of Forgeline GTD1-Viper wheels in factory sizes. The scales I used for these round to a one-pound unit.

Sidewinder 2, Front, 18x10.5
Weight: 19 lbs.

GTD1-Viper, Front, 18x10.5
Weight: 19 lbs.

Sidewinder 2, Rear, 19x13
Weight: 24 lbs.

Thanks for the info, to be honest I thought that the GTD1 will be lighter but the sidewinder 2 are already light to begin with.

Sw2 are quite light, however I believe the GTD1 fits over the CCB of the ACR! Advantage Forgeline.

Nice Brian! Love those wheels and the all important weight numbers.

Here's them mounted. Everything stock. Just these wheels and Tikore titanium lug nuts. Pirelli Corsas in OE sizes. This color is Forgeline's "Gloss Bronze".

Total weight savings for the whole car: 11 pounds.

The Forgelines are also MUCH stronger than the SW2 wheels. The SW2 wheels only have rotary forged barrels, the spokes are still cast aluminum. The Forglines are 100% 6061 forged aluminum, with the spokes CNC machined out. In the event of an accident or off-track excursion, the cast aluminum wheels are prone to shatter, whereas the forged wheels will simply bend.

Thanks! That car looks stellar and has me rethinking my plan to drop my GA3R-6 off at Foregline for re-coating vs picking up a set of these GTD1. Hmm...

My bad!! I linked to Forgeline's website instead. Guess Google Photos doesn't like to share.

P.S. sharmut, your message box is full and can't accept any more messages.

Are all forgelines built this way?
Curious about the Forgeline FF3 wheels, I know they arent as light, are they lighter than their competition? (HRE, CCW)

All Forgelines are CNC machined, forged wheels. The various groups within each brand have different focuses, some are lighter than others. We could build the FF3 wheels with titanium fasteners for assembly, which shave about 1.5 lbs per wheel vs the standard stainless hardware. They would still be fairly light, with that stepped-lip construction. HRE and CCW are comparable, I carry all three brands.

Great post! More people need to weigh parts and keep records.
Scales set up to weight 4000 lb cars aren't that accurate on small parts though.
I weighed mine on a digital parts scale certified to the gram and got these weights on the Sidewinders:
Front 18.42403 lbs
Rear 22.9192568 lbs

Sidewinders are even lighter than the much narrower 18" carbon fiber wheels on the Shelby GT350R

What does a set of these GTD1 wheels run? If I were to switch from my GA3R-6, I would probably go up in size 19/19 or 19/20.

Thanks! And yeah, my car scales are all I have. I've got a food scale I weighed my Ti lug nuts on (43g OE vs 35g Tikore), but that doesn't hold a wheel. lol.

Sorry about the delayed response. I don't want to give the exact numbers for these since there's multiple different distributors for them, but they should end up about the same as GA3R-6s.

That is super light, I'm stuck at deciding if I stick with the smaller brake rotors and get Sidewinder 2s.

Or get the Brass monkey ACR wheels (heavy wheels 28lb front, 31lb rear) and upgrade to 380mm rotors and 6-piston calipers.

Never a good idea to add over 30 lbs of rotating mass on purpose. The reason ACR wheels are so heavy is because they had to withstand the lateral loading of an aero equipped car, and they wanted to keep the costs down on the wheels. There had to be a compromise. Even so, the ACR wheels are still around $4,000/set. When you get into that price range, you should consider an actual forged wheel, not a cast spoke wheel. You'll have the strength, and the weight savings then.
