So I did it. I traded my first Viper, a Gen IV for a Gen V. I had only had my car for six months, but simply came across a deal I couldn't refuse. The difference between a Gen V and Gen IV is simply astronomical. Today with the wonderful weather, I had the most fun I have ever had in my life driving. I simply couldn't stop smiling. The interior, the 18 speaker stereo, the throttle response, the handling, and I have to say it again - the interior! What a car! After today, I simply don't see how the magazine reviewers end up complaining about the car. They are always laughing and giggling while driving the car (even though their narrative is that they can't stand it) and it's easy to understand why because I was too. Here are a few pics! Even took one of my Gen IV next to my new Gen V (prior to it being detailed mind you).

Welcome to the srt, non-gts, non-ta, non acr club lol just like you the srt fit me like a glove according to the way i was going to use it, a street monster that has higher top speed than all the other models 206 mph vs 175 mph in the acr, show them ferraris whats up on the highway, i was considering a gts at first but why would i want to make my race car heavier or ride softer? no knock on anyone else, just explaining how diff models are right for different people

Wait... what? You're pleased with the Gen 5 SRT interior? Over your Gen 4 interior? Can't be? Why, I just read on here a couple days ago they were the same quality???? :)
Congrats man! They're really quite an improvement, as you've noticed, especially the interior.

When was the last time you actually went 206mph? Also, how does a softer ride affect highway rolls? Does your SRT have the sidewinder II wheels? You might be in for a surprise when a GTS rolls up sporting said lighter wheels (Sidewinder II) and beats you in a highway race.

No matter what opinion someone has there is ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS that person that will tell you why they know of, or have something better. It gets old hearing "Oh no my d!ck is bigger and better.

You're absolutely right. I think every manufacturer should just give it up with the lightweight models, as there is no difference in a highway roll. lol J/K
On the bright side, at least the lighter weight Viper is cheaper. Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini make you pay extra for them to take equipment out, lol.

Fantastic, congrats! I know you've been pondering it for a long time.
I like the SRT stripes, they are very unusual. No one in my area has them.

Thanks. Funny you say that because I actually emailed Prefix yesterday about repainting to the GTS style stripes. I do like the SRT stripes, but I just love the full GTS style stripes on the SRT hood.

Just got mine back from Prefix, they added black stripes. Work is impeccable, as if it came on the car...

Todd,
Your Gen V might be my favorite car on this site. Just gorgeous. If you don't mind, please PM me what you paid because I just got an email quote from them a few hours ago and I have to admit I am a little sticker shocked.

I am not sure why quotes have to be private. I would love to know as well! Post here or PM me if you get a chance.

Well, I guess I need to talk them again. They told me $11k without transport.
Todd,
Did your car have any stripes at all prior to you sending it to them? I'm wondering since they are going below the clear coat if it would even matter if I already have stripes or not.

Welcome aboard!!!! Just like you, I was amazed at how good the car really is. It's one of those times in life were I'm so glad I don't give a s@#t what some people say, I'll decide for myself what is good and what isn't. And just like you, I found out instantly, the Gen V Viper is very, very, good. The one thing people don't touch on when they review the car, which I think is absolutely crucial, is how the car makes you feel when you're driving it. Forget the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Forget the 60-0 braking, and the lap times. Forget whether it sounds like a V8 or a V10. How does the car make you feel when you're behind the wheel cruising down your main drag, or the hwy, or your favorite twisty bit of road? It makes me feel like, in the words of James Cameron, "King of the World", and I think that's pretty hard to beat. Cheers. Enjoy the feeling of driving/owning one of the most badass cars on the planet....
