Does Moog product fit Gen V? What is the average life expectancy of factory ones on a primarily street driven car with occasional track use? Has anyone replaced ball joints on a Gen V yet? Is it compulsory or optional to replace control arms contemporaneously? Does greasing the ball joints extend life and use/ suspension performance and if so which product is preferred?

If your car is not excessively Lowered, you can expect years and many many thousands of miles on your ball joints. I put thousands of miles most of them track related on my gentry car and never had a ball joint issue.

Also, unless you see leakage from the boots don't keep filling them, over filling and stressing the boot will increase chances of failure.

Mark, how often should the ball joints be greased? I just greased them in my TA with 10,000 miles on it, was that too soon? Is there a recommended interval? Also what about diff and trans fluid? How often should they be changed?

Thanks

If they have no signs of losing grease no need to re grease, unless you remove the boot clean out the ball joint and then re grease IMHO. As for a car that sees track time all year the transmission it will be ok for a long time even at the track before any color change. If you are an over maintenance kind of guy like me change it out every season although it should be no where near needed. I always check the diff fluid every other weekend at the track and change it out quite often just for peace of mind, it's not expensive to over maintain this part.

I only have 8k on the odometer in 3.5 years and have no symptoms of failure. Steering doesn't veer and no failure sounds while turning. I've only tracked it twice. So I was surprised when service said that they looked worn at my oil change last week. It was a new young mechanic so probably a mistake. Plus the dealer doesnt have a viper tech. On the plus side I got 4 software updates and fresh oil and filter. The pcm one was quick but the instrument cluster took forever. It was definitely over one hour. Guess I'll file the thought away in my mind as long as I remain symptom free. I have a lift at home and there's no leaks on my inspection either. Thanks for the replies
