So I had this event on my 'bucket list' of things to attend at least once in my life for a long time now. This would mark my 4th trip to Michigan (Still can't believe that!) and I had a lot of people to see and places to visit, as well as to shoot.

I had been invited to the Modern Street Hemi Shootout event at Milan Dragway by my buddy Dan VanHorn to shoot that and I also signed up for the Dodge/Roadkill event at M1 Concourse. But I'll skip those bits and keep this post Viper related as Sam has been wondering when I'd post the pics on the forums. I'd also like to give a thank you to the Motor City Viper Owners for their hospitality, they are an awesome bunch to have some fun with!

It was a long drive out to Michigan last Wednesday but very little rain (well okay, I drove through one torrential downpour in Ohio) and the roads were perfect. That night when we arrived I took a 30 minute drive with some friends in Detroit Area Modern Mopar over to the main drag on Woodward to catch a glimpse of some of the cars that were taking to the cruise early. Of course after a nice long drive what a better way to stop in at Vinsetta Garage for a nice bowl of pasta and a beer. There were a few Vipers out that night. I posted this photo on various social media sites, just imagine it being 1992 and the first few RT/10's made their way off the New Mack assembly line and onto Woodward Ave. Pretty neat to shoot Vipers running around their home state.

For most of the day Thursday, I spent my time over at Milan Dragway shooting the HEMI powered LX/LC cars with a few neat oddballs thrown in the mix. I saw pretty much everything over there with some extreme horsepower. Eight second Jeep SRT's, Twin Turbo Challengers, even a mostly carbon gutted nine-second NA Dodge Magnum. The guy who won Roadkill? Mike Moran? Even he was there doing a few test hits in that bonkers 68' Twin Turbo Dodge Charger. I have never been that close to a car that launches so ridiculously hard that it was capable of turning the track into an accordion.

Following the event at Roadkill, I took a ride back to the hotel for a quick cool down (it was pretty hot out there!) and a fresh set of a clothes before heading back down to Woodward and 13 Mile for 'Viper Night' at FCA's showcase space. Roughly 50-60 Vipers came out for the night, even one that came off the assembly line that morning and a familiar one from Canada.

First up, this awesome TA was on display and it's color has a unique name, 'Frosted Grape'. I gotta say, the matte colors keep getting better and better. I've seen Anodized Carbon, the NYIAS car (matte white ACR with black and brass monkey), Matte Red, and now Frosted Grape which I think is the best one I've seen yet.

Mark Trostle brought out a killer Stryker Green SRT. Can never get enough of this color. It's like putting on a brightly colored tuxedo, it's outrageous but who cares, it looks so good.

DAMM member, Jeff Doolin, brought out his Gen V with a very bright set of aftermarket wheels. It's different but I dig it!

I saw my 3rd Prefix Targa car. Previously, I saw a Orange TA Targa at NVE 2 and Prefix's own Targa. This one really showcases the work, this is some really factory looking work. Very clean, very nice.

As I'm talking with some folks I notice a red, white and blue wing. I'm thinking to myself, 'No way a dealer car?! They rolled out one of the dealer cars?!' What kind of luck do I have? Well I came to find out that this ACR was owned by Bob and Sandi White. Long story short, this was the combination that Bob wanted and then after submitting it, he was told 'Nope sorry, no-can-do.' Well Bob accepted it for whatever reason is was and had the car painted that way! A few lucky folks will order the Dealer Edition ACR's, Bob has the first...sort of. ;)

My friend Joe, his girlfriend and his dad made the overnight haul to CAAP to pickup his ACR Thursday morning and had it in the pit that night. It's a 1-of-1, the color is slightly darker than Competition Blue, Black center and Red drivers stripe. It's a bold car.

Now I've seen quite a few Vipers over the years and one has been on the list of cars to see and I can finally check that off! This is 1 of 3 96' WHITE and BLUE GTS coupes ever made. They are executive cars, so while the fine folks in the MCVO see this car on regular basis, to me this is a unicorn. So I might have taken a few dozen shots of it.

I found Mr. Dick Winkles and spoke with him for a little bit on the Gen V program. He then showed me and Joe his personal Gen IV VVO Vert. Of course, when you're the guy responsible for the Viper's heart, you can't leave yours stock! Dick's car has a awesome Gen V intake manifold, carbon and orange valve covers and a few other bits.

This was a wild Viper, looks like it moves well over 200 mph just standing still. I don't know the story behind it, but I wonder if it's ever seen Bonneville.

The Gen V looks pretty good in just about every color, but I'm particularly in love with this silver and black car. Very classy looking.

And Yellow? Yes, there was a fair amount of yellow. Only for MoparBoy of course!

So that's all for now! At least from Viper Night. I still have a bunch of photos to go through, from the Dream Cruise itself so stay tuned for that! If you'd like to see more pics from this you can do so here (https://www.flickr.com/photos/schenphotography/albums/72157669805538084).
