Forum,
Last night my passenger door would not open from the exterior (inside it was fine). I wake up the this morning, and the passenger door was wide open in the garage, when I tried to close the door, the door opened on it's own as soon as I closed it. I tried to close it again, and as soon as I closed it, it reopened on it's own...... anyone have a remedy to this?
To be fair, I got stuck in some rain last night, however all doors were shut and windows were rolled up while driving..... it is a 2015 GT.

There was a recall on the door handle. Doors could pop open due to rain entering the switch. I didn't think it applied to 15s though but maybe it does. There is a Mopar site you can enter your VIN to check, I don't have the link though.
There is also a TSB on the door node. When it gets wet from heavy rain, strange things happen. Window going down on its own is usually the result but I suspect the door might act flaky too. The TSB does apply to 15s. I had mine fixed as I had a problem with the passenger window twice after driving in heavy rain. Window went down and would not come back up. The TSB calls for the replacement of the door nodes, a new wiring harness, and a new plastic shield over the door node. The node sits near the door speaker by the way. One word of caution though, SRT had a bad batch of wiring harnesses for the door (missing a ground). My dealer had to order three sets of harnesses to get good ones to perform the TSB.

A similar yet different event happened to me. A week and a half ago my wife and I are going to the beach for the weekend. During the drive see needs something from the trunk. I stopped, get out, leave the car running, retrieve the item from the trunk, the drivers door won't open. She has to unlatch the door from the inside. The problem remained unchanged for six days. During this time I made numerous attempts to open the door. No luck. The day before I'm taking it to the dealer I try the door and it operates perfectly and has since then.
I'm leaving well enough alone for the time being, besides it difficult to diagnose a faulty sensor when it's working perfectly.

I checked the MOPAR Recall website, and all my recalls (R40 & R29) are update to date. I figured some moisture might be getting into he electronics..... Thank you for the info Special Ed, and ViperGeorge.....

I miss the good 'ole days when all we needed to worry about was doors popping open on the highway. Ha.
Seriously I didn't think this effected model year 15. What's R40?

Needs a door handle switch. Very common failure on gen V's, I've replaced three under warranty on my 15GT.

I like to think I am fairly patient but what a pain in the ass. If I had to have the same switch replaced 3 times due to failure on any car not to mention time wasted, I would be pissed.

Do they replace the same crappy part with the same crappy part? For some reason I thought R40 replaced the entire door handle with something different?

Generally the same crappy part, yes. Unless there is an updated, slightly less crappy part, LOL!

FLATOUT,
I'm currently in McAllen, TX (deep south TX, and far from home) with this issue. My Fiancé and I are visiting her family down that lives down here. Do you know of any trustworthy Dodge Dealers in this this area with a actual Viper Tech? I will be down here for 6 more days and would rather have it fixed while I'm down here but don't want to take the car to just any Dodge Dealer......
As of now I got the door to stop opening on it's own consistently but there are still times it will just randomly pop open, and the exterior handle doesn't work..... I can hear a click when I depress it, but it doesn't actually open. Thank you for your time.
