First drive in the viper

Loved the experience but after parking it after a 20 mile ride i found oil (or i can only assume its oil) that had been spit through one of the louveres in the hood, and now i know what made the paint bubble up further back on the hood when i took delivery, theres was the same fluid in the same spot when i took delivery but at the time i thought it was drippings from delivery truck, SRT hood, driver side, middle louver, 3300 miles on clock. My question, is this a product of the R29 not being done yet? Is the paint bubbling covered under warranty?

Absolutely no evidence under hood of leaks around engine, removed intake and checked filter and tubes, and power steering fluid resevoir that is directly below said louver, all clean and tight

This is definetly not R29 related. R29 is just a redesign of the cam cover to manage air flow that causes oil to be transferred into the MUA hose during high speed cornering. If R29 had been done and this happened it would make some sense and you could point to incorrect installation. However since it hasnt been completed and the engine is fresh from the factory, curious as to what the problem could be. Really odd that you cant source the origin of the oil by looking around the engine bay. The trailer park boyz troubleshooting would be to remove the hood and drive the car to find he leak :0 Have you spoken to the dealet? If this fluid is originating from the car, I have no doubt that warranty will cover the engine and the hood!

There is no cam cover, cam is in the block, you must be referring to coil cover or cylinder head cover.

Paint issues are tough if out of initial Limited Bumper to Bumper Warranty , but they will not be able to ascertain or help you without documenting and showing the issue. Too many things that this could be coming from , and we are all just guessing. Take it in and let us know what they say. Keep in mind the Dealer will have to send in pictures of the issue and the paint , so surprisingly do not clean it up.

Yes thats what i was thinking, but completely tight

It looks to me like they used something to shine up the black plastic vents.....ArmorAll or Tire dressing...and then when you drove it and got it hot it ran off and onto the paint. The splattering could be just from air blowing up through the vents and blowing it around on the hood once it started running. That would also make sense as to why you can't find anything under the hood leaking.....just a guess though. Let us know what you find out. Sucks on a new car!!! I feel for ya man!

Smell it, taste it (if you dare) and see if the fluid will blend with water - this will tell you a lot if its oil or Car care product.

Can the under hood pad have fluid on/in it?

Perhaps there had been a leak previously from something such as a missing power steering reservoir cap that caused a mess and was cleaned up and issue fixed. However, maybe the person cleaning the car didn't think of the residual fluid that might have settled down in the gap between the hood louver and the hood. Then the fluid was pulled out by the high speed air flow over the area during your drive.

Viper just got its recalls finished by Morgan at V.E. today and they said bubbling will be documented and pictures sent to fca and reviewed, so waiting game ATM, was told FCA will not go through prefix, and best case scenario will be a good paint shop in town. But the fluid stopped appearing after 400 miles. Will be picking up vehicle tonight.

I'm personally going to take another look at it right now just to make sure we didn't miss anything but definitely a strange occurance, everything does in fact seem tight with no visable leaks anywhere.

After looking at it again my only thoughts are that someone at somepoint must have spilled something onto that area from the top side of the hood. I checked everywhere again and there are no signs of any leaks underneath and the hood blanket is as clean as a whistle. Continue to monitor it and if you notice any changes give me a ring.
