I just picked this beast up yesterday. It's absolutely amazing!!! Anyone into sport bikes should definitely check out the Aprilia RSV4 RF or RR. The sound is like something I've never experienced before, and my last bike was a Ducati with a full Termignoni system. This bike is stock!!!! Crazy. The manual is about 3" thick. Traction control, Wheelie control, ABS, Launch control, 3 different engine braking modes.............................. Bikes have come a long way in the last few years. Good times.

The build quality on this bike is amazing. And, you get full Ohlins and forged wheels!!! I was seriously considering the Ducati 1299 Panigale, but to get all of the goodies you need to step up to the Panigale R, and in Canada that bike is going to set you back 40K. I never thought I'd look at an Aprilia as a bargain ;)

Nice. I have been eyeing those up for awhile. I liken them to the Ferrari of sport bikes. I'm still waiting for them to up the power to the level of the BMW s1000's. I have 2 GSXR1000's which are highly modded - one for the track and one for the street. Thats why I bought a Viper, because I wanted something that could rip like the bike. Enjoy!!

Right on. I've had a couple Gixer's myself. Great bikes. BTW, for 2016 they upped the power to 201hp for both the RSV4 RF and RR, so I believe this bike is right on par with the Beemer. :) But the sound Dave1968....................... I really can't express how good it is. You HAVE to check it out. YouTube doesn't do it justice. ;)

I've never rode a motorcycle before, but I can certainly appreciate their artistry. Your bike truly looks like masterpiece. Anything the Italians do is beautiful. That beast screams performance. Scary.

Thanx Guys!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so stoked!!!! It's just like Christmas as a kid again.

Ah, yes, the "Dragon". It does sound like a place I've got to get to someday. Will do!! Likewise, we are heading out to our place in Lions Bay, B.C., Canada, from August 25th to about Sept 3rd or so. I'm going to trailer the Ape with the fam, so if anyone is considering a drive on the "Sea to Sky Hwy" to Whistler, just let me know. I've got to break this thing in ;)

Great bike! 1199 owner here thinking about a switch. RSV4 or R1M has me going back and forth. Also own a speed triple (stupid amount of torque) and gixxer 600 race bike

2016 RSV4 horsepower now edges out the BMW S1000RR no?

Can't go wrong with the R1. I had one too. Also had a 929 and a few different R6's. Bikes are weird though, you pay all the money for Italian built just like you do with cars, but you get better performance from cheap Japanese ones. Still love the Aprilla and Ducatis though. I might pick up a bike again in the next year or two. Probably go back to a 600, a lot more fun to ride even though they aren't as fast.

True, but all japanese bikes ride the same which is why I moved on to Italian bikes. They have character, like a viper. That keeps it interesting.

I think bikes, even moreso than cars, are purchased for how they make you feel, and are less about performance numbers. Some of that is how they look, how they sound, how they feel to ride.

I think anyone shopping motorcycles with a spec book might end up missing out.

Very true. Some of the best bikes have nothing to do with stats. I've often wondered what riding an old Norton would be like. I'd like to have something vintage some day. I didn't even look at the BMW S1000RR for exactly that reason.

I considered the R1M but I wanted to try something new: V4. I've had about 10 inline 4's and a couple Ducatis. I can tell you honestly, one ride on this bike and I knew I made the right choice ;)

Any liter bike is stupid fast, I've had like a dozen since '87. It was tracking bikes that got me into tracking and then racing cars. My favs have been Ninjas and a few R1s. Have a Ninja at the moment. Love every model of Aprilia, that bike is sick, I've not done Duc or Aprillia because I track all of mine, and if I dumped a Duc or Aprillia I'd cry for a year, with a Ninja it's like, oh well, lol. Enjoy!

Yeah I'm pretty excited about it. I grew up in Lions Bay so I was pulling some crazy stuff on that road back when it was just two lanes and I was 16 years old on my CBR 600 Hurricane. 😉 I'm a lot more reserved now.

Gotta like a Stock bike that can run a 9.90 et at 150 mph on Pump gas . And a power to weight ratio of 200 HP per litre, at 430lbs . :p

Yep, I'd cry. Remember the first ZX-7 with the snorkel tubes? I got that bike one month after it came out in '89. I was 18 and felt like I was king of the world. I named it the "Road Toad" and put a huge Mr. Zogs Sex Wax sticker on the rear seat cowel.....what a blast.

Woops, sorry, I didn't answer your question. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure they are within a couple hp of each other. I'm not sure who has the slight edge, but I almost think it's the Beemer.

Yeah I imagine it's one of those things you just have to experience. I'd love to get out on one some day to see for myself. I ride a bike to beat the f@ck out of it though, so I don't think it would be right for me to get an Italian one. lol

You need to go up 99 towards Lilooet if you really want to have fun. Just make sure to keep it out of the willows, they seem to be fishing bikes and riders out of the ditches there all the time.

That Aprilia is awesome. Please clean off that crap hanging like a snot rocket off the rear cowl over the rear tire though :P Mine isn't nearly as race oriented but I absolutely love my new Ducati Diavel Carbon. Just got 500 miles on her. The plate holders/reflector setups on these bikes are hideous. I tore mine off the first week I got it.
