A friend with a 16 ACR-E said his concierge sent him 150 pictures of the build from chasis to finish and contacted him weekly with updates. He ordered a 17 model 1.5 months ago and hasn't heard jack from anyone. I realize caap was closed for half of July but do you think the lack of communication is from getting 200 orders all at once or due to this controversy concerning engine failures? Has anyone else placed an order back in June and heard no reply?

I placed an order for a '17 ACR 2 weeks ago and have already received 1 phone call and 2 emails (1 each week).

That's strange. I ordered a GTC through Bill Pemberton as soon as they started taking orders around the beginning of June or thereabouts. I have received 3 emails and 2 phone calls from the concierge already. 2 days ago I also received the speed form (?) car in my color.

Any indication of anticipated build time? 6 months?

I was told more than 6 months, maybe even a full year with the special editions and rush of 2017 orders.

Makes sense. They aren't going to hire and train new staff when they're going to be shutting down. Plus they apparently got as many orders in one week as they did for the entire previous model year

Nope. They can't hold them. Even if you're doing plant pick up.

They better be giving a set of free tires with every winter purchase then because all those super sticky tires should never be subjected to temperatures near or below freezing.

Maybe the dealers will hold them. A buddy had his F12 order completed in the middle of a blizzard and his dealer stored it for him until the snow cleared.

I was told you can't even order an SRT, GTS, TA or regular GTC anymore, the plant is down to making ACRs only. Be it of the GTC varaity or not.

I ordered my 17' ACR June 3, got a vin by June 9, and have been getting a message every week since then from the concierge (random facts about the Viper, how it's built, etc) July 28 I was messaged my body panels were being prepped and on Aug 3 received about 15 or so pictures of my completed/painted body panels! That's where I stand now... Should get another update next week..

Speaking with both the Viper Concierge after my car (2016) was shipped, as well as with people at CAAP during the tour, they have been completely swamped with orders ever since FCA officially announced the end of Viper production. This is most likely the reason.

Call a dealer and order one. Ben Keating mentioned they ordered ~200 '17s, mostly ACR Extremes and mostly customer orders. Local dealer ordered 6 ACR-E limited editions for customers. Woodhouse, etc. are all ordering Vipers. Buy one.

My understanding is that an order placed now/recently wait time will be significantly more than one placed right when the 2017 orders opened in early June because of the official announcement rush and limited editions.

It's interesting to see the feedback/times from everyone. I was told 12 months.

Well, if that is the case, I will be getting one of the very last Vipers built. I ordered a 2017 1 of 1 on August 1. It also would mean that 2017 ordering will be ending any day now due to no more capacity before the plant shuts down. It won't be long before we find out.

Profit margin all around is better. Most dealers not coming off MSRP (or barely) and that is UNHEARD of previously on a Viper.
Of course, that all ends soon and then they are just used car dealers.

I don't know anything "official" more than gathering information here and there. Putting the pieces together my advice would be those who want to order their own spec 2017 Viper should do so soon. There are a lot of variables at play here (plant capacity, parts shortages, supplier issues, high demand, unforeseen or unknown issues, last time buys, executive decisions, etc....... I definitely could be wrong but it seems ordering may either end sooner than later or be somehow restricted preventing the exact spec of car desired.

ACR-Extreme, I would be a little worried that they didn't ask for a deposit. Might want to follow up with them. Maybe you have a special relationship with them. Also, if they aren't one of the big dealers I would be worried that are telling you they have an allocation they don't actually have. I've seen a post or two about dealers saying they have cars without actually having an allocation.

I do think the GTS-R is the best looking of the final editions. The others didn't really speak to me. Kind of wish I had tried to get one. Good luck and I hope you get one.

My friend with the 1:28 order also signed and paid nothing but it's his 3rd viper order from the dealer so I guess it depends.

Imo that American themed red white & blue one will probably be the most epic of the special editions and will probably end up being one of the most epic vipers ever made.

We had three people buying together - one could not wait and picked one off a lot.

The other person also has given no deposit nothing signed but was a prior customer received a call as mentioned above from concierge.

It's a larger dealer spoken with the owner sales and mechanic for upgrades - have no reason to doubt them with volumes of e-mail conversations text correspondence it's simply something I have never experienced odd on one hand but everything communicated so far has been spot on.

Agree the GTS - R is a very good combination would like to add all the cf bits which may have to be done at the dealer.

Base ACR's - the GTS - R has the optional cf exterior package was told and I could be wrong there is a 10 speaker option and or the dealer can upgrade.

It seems awfully silly Viper does not allow a customer to add profitable options to the limited editions it's almost a pure profit center - time will tell.

Probably $50,000 profit per car on 1 of 1 ACR / GTC. Getting into Porsche profit territory!

I have a verbal and am on my third custom paint polyform from Concierge.

Regarding ACR vs non-ACR and parts...I can imagine that the demand has taken them a bit by surprise and they are no doubt facing a serious supply issue. It's not like their suppliers can produce 100% more ACR parts on short notice and the plant has a set closing date. Demand appears to be outstripping their ability to supply for the first time in a decade.

So I placed my order on 29 July for a 1 of 1 and got a call from the concierge on 11 August that my build was approved. No VIN yet and the concierge was very clear that it was going to take some time with all the orders coming in. We discussed the possibility of the Viper selling out this year and he said he wouldn't be surprised if they get a call from the factory one day saying that's all folks. If you're thinking about getting one, I'd do it soon. I'm glad I finally did.

On a side note, the 1 of 1 program and the concierge service is pretty awesome. What a cool and special way to get your Viper. Highly recommend it.

Oh the irony, SRT figures out how to sell the car in the moment of discontinuing it.

Just sold my gen5 this weekend, now I need to decide what to do. ACR, ACR-E, order, inventory, or go a different direction all together. My bday is in Sept so I was going to pull the trigger on something then. I too would want a spring delivery on the timing if I order - although CAAP pick up might be a bucket list item if I ordered, even worthy of the logistics hassle to do it.

Keep in mind that early orders always seem to get done a bit sooner than others -- they are in the pipeline when the plant reopens. Orders behind them have always taken a lot longer, and part of the reason folks wonder why one car took 4 months and theirs took 6 ---simple a lot more cars ahead of yours and scheduled when the first ones out were at the very beginning of the line.

PS - I believe Policy Limits will likely be correct.

Agree with Xnake ,the rumors seem to be getting silly with some Dealers giving exact dates that orders will cease, but as I mentioned before there is no set date. It is obvious to those of us who are selling a lot and with info we have received, that the sales are exceeding what SRT and Dodge expected. But no surprise to anyone on this Forum as many are aware of how quickly the Limited Models sold out to Dealers.

Fiat Chrysler has not announced the end of production for the Viper at Conner Avenue. However, it’s expected to go through mid-2017. Kuniskis said the plant “is booked” through March.

This should alleviate the rumors of a set date for orders to cease of August 31st that has been stated from some Dealers. Kuniskis mentioning that the Plant is booked through March does give everyone a reasonable and reliable statement of how rapidly sales are going, though.

That's good news. Man, maybe I'll wait, waited this long, with FCA being such dicks at the moment, I need to decide if I want give them my money for a 9th time or not, a month or two to think about it would be nice.

Didn't you state that the plant had stopped taking ordered of SRT, TA and TA 2.0 already?

So statistically 20 special editions will fail? That's sad if it's the case.

You can not order a SRT or GT, so you therefore can not order a TA 1.0 or 2.0 , as they were part of SRT order options. You can still order the TA 1.0 or TA 2.0 Option Groups on a 1 of 1 , but they are different in their actual content - no CB strut bar or back panel for instance. Of course the strut bar can be ordered separately.
