I just bought the Mother's foam spray. Looks promising, but I haven't tried it out yet. I'm expecting to be disappointed though, as the only good way to clean these wheels is good old fashioned work. But I'm too lazy for that some days. :/

I really don't trust product that say they are safe for clear coated wheels. I like the old fashion way, it takes awhile but it's worth it.

I used various high quality brands, and my wheel finishes got damaged. If you take just a little too long to hose it off, or if there's a little residue left after washing, it'll kill the finish over time. By the time you notice it, it's too late.

Just bite the bullet and wash them.

Unfortunately the only way to keep wheels clean is to either wash them often, wipe them down quick after driving the car, or don't drive the car.

I hate to admit it but I almost always do rinseless washes now and I clean the wheels with a wet micro fiber towel and then use Black Magic Tire Wet spray on wheels and Meguiars tire gel on the tires. I've been doing that for two years and I always wash it after every drive before putting it away and everything still looks great. I'm really just looking for something to get the inner part of the wheels behind the spokes.

Sidewinder 2's look great, but are the worst wheel to clean. I absolutely hate cleaning them.

You may try a set of Wheel Woollies and a spray bottle with some rinseless wash in it next time.

I personally would not use a wheel cleaner on a Viper. I am not as concerned with wheel damage as I am with brake components getting brittle from the cleaning chemicals.

S100 works well and have never had a problem with finishes on my motorcycles. I use 2 sizes of the Daytona Speed Master brushes and a Mothers wheel(gray bristles) brush. I can usually get the inside of the wheel as well except for the fronts behind my calipers. I have the H Spoke wheels which are also a bit of a PIA to clean.

I use the Ammo NYC wheel kit on both mine and I'm more than happy with the results.

I've used Sonax a couple of times and feel like it works pretty well without having to scrub, but it's expensive. Junkman chimed in on this before and recommended an Eagle one product which I haven't tried yet.

I'm definitely going to try polish on the wheels during the next major wash, maybe prevent some of that stuff from adhering.

Amen ! The new ACR wheels look as good or better and look much easier to clean.

I use a product called "Wheel Wax" www.wheelwax.com and am happy with the product. It helps resist brake dust. You can basically spray off the brake dust.
At least once a year I take the wheels off and polish the barrel of the wheels.

I don't know if I should be naming the product, but it works for me.

I never recommend any wheel cleaners, other than just plain automotive soap and water. Chemicals are risky, some damage the powdercoat finish.

The trick with the matte black Sidewinders is to just never touch 'em. ;) With enough brake dust in place they actually become a matte finish, instead of the semi gloss they call matte.

But once you touch 'em...... then you gotta wash 'em. lol. And in that rare instance, I use soap and water.

There's literally no brake dust with CCB's. It's sooooooo nice.

Since the wheels are painted and then cleared. Treat them like your exterior paint (nineball). Pull them off once a year and use a high quality wax. Then when needed use meguairs detail spray. fast/easy.. 5 min a wheel.. i will be trying wheelwax.com next time. thanks for SuperBird's suggestion. good luck

I just use the soap that I clean the car with and a thin soft brush. I do the wheels before the body and use the two bucket method. Takes a while but that's how I've always done it. The kids give me a hand every now and then.

Yeah... I did about 450 miles this past weekend and the car sat 2 days on the dusty show field at Carlisle so I hand scrubbed each wheel with the soft brush and Meguiars Car wash. Then I did a complete wet soapy wash of the entire car and just used the Black Magic tire spray on the wheels as usual. I've been using that on the wheels for almost 2 years now and they still look amazing when I wipe away any excess with the micro fiber towel.

I just thought that maybe there is something to make it a little easier but it's not worth taking a chance ruining the finish on the wheels.

Sonax works great! I use sonax than soap and a wash glove. Takes awhile but they clean up like new every time. Sonax is expensive but I have been using it for YEARS 5+ on oem finishes, painted finish, and powder coat never once had a problem.

Edit:
also Griots garage is also really great, not as strong sonax so a little less abrasive and smells much better

Another vote here for the Sonax. Smells like crap but it works pretty well.

I used Sonax on my black Hellcat wheels with no problems. I am now using it on my sidewinders.

P21s Gel (amazon),. Been using this for year on vipers, and use it on my TA. It works great, PH balanced, ZERO Acid. And will not harm your finish. You can use this stuff right on your paint if you wanted to, it will not harm it.

Do not use anything you can buy at pep boys, its acid junk, and will trash your wheels. Soap and water are fine. But the P21s really breaks apart the brake dust, and washes it OFF the wheel. I feel like with soap and water it just kind of smears the brake dust. And just scratches the heck out of the finish. You do need something hard than just soap IMO on the sidewinders. They really get dirty. QUICK.

Wash your wheels just like your finish. If you just wipe them down with water. you ARE scratching them...

I also will use ONR (mixed to quick detailer ratio) in a pinch. But only if the wheels are just surface dirty.

I'm about to get mine opticoated. I have a new set of ACR wheels coming in for a second seet. Anybody opti coat brand new wheels? I think it's the safest alternative.

Any reason not to use a power washer at a lower setting? I was working on another project around the house and came across my filthy range rover wheels. Quick blast with the power washer and they look great.

Modesta B06 on the wheels and calipers are better than both Opticote and Cquartz.

I always power wash mine with 3200 psi and 15 degree tip. Never had an issue in 15 years of doing so, but if there is paint damage on the wheel you may risk chipping some paint with that much power.

I have to say that the custom center caps you made for my car have held up beautifully with all the cleaning and greasy stuff I shine them with.:D

CarPro IronX will clean your wheels safely, I've been using it for over 2 years now on all my cars, and for soap use CarPro Reset - Where is Tiki, he brings his Green Viper to my house for a detail. He can speak to it as well.

Great to hear, Charles! ...but Forget my advice above.. LOL! You definitely don't want to direct power wash the custom painted caps!!

Griots Green Wheel Cleaner, PH neutral, safe for anything and does a good job. Another one is Megs Dub but it stinks to high heaven and is not totally neutral so I'd go for the Griots. I use it on 6500 HRE rims.

Does anyone know the material on them??

I use the Plum wheel cleaner from Ammo (https://www.ammonyc.com/shop/ammo-plum-whee-cleaner/). For those not familiar, Ammo is a detailer (Larry K) that does ultra high end cars. He's a Porsche guy but does work on all sort of vehicles. His products are excellent and I've always has good luck with them. He also does fantastic YouTube videos on cleaning/detailing.

Before Ammo, I used P21S for years without issue. Have also used Sonax and worth products as well.

There are lots of good wheels cleaners, but you don't buy them at your local auto parts store. And all require some amount of brush agitation.

Yep you are correct 100%. After you coat the wheels and the calibers just one time. All you have to do is just spray them off and its all gone. Quick blow dry and you are done and back on the track to make more!!!!

Caution, you have to be careful if you use a power washer and accidentally spray the tires.
