Honoring 9/11 Heroes Cruise -- Every Viper is welcome!

Hey Everyone,
A team of folks is working on an event to honor the memory of 9/11 and raise money for those still impacted.

The event is a cruise in NJ and Manhattan that will come down the West side and wrap around the Battery and end up downtown a few blocks from the 9/11 Memorial.

This will take place on 9/10/16 NOT THE 11th. This is logistically the only way to do it. The 10th is a Saturday this year.

In years past, we have had 30 cars or more participate. For the 15th Anniversary, let's set some records!

Please post up if you are interested. We need to start getting an idea of head count for sponsors.

This is being organized to help support and organization which caters to the needs of all 9-11 First responders and many more. Their programs and efforts over the years are impressive and more info will follow soon. Come on guys !!!! Rain, shine, monsoon, or blistering heat, set this date as a priority now in your schedules.

We could use the power of our membership and the attraction of our cars to support a cause and to remember a day that effected the world !!!

This is going to be a great day, complete with the NYPD support, FDNY recognition, and so much more !!!!

I'm so excited that this is finally going to happen again! I know a few people have asked, 'When is the cruise coming back?' The 9/11 Respect cruise is without a doubt the ONE event every Viper in the tri-state (and PA) should make at least once because it's not so much about the cars, as it is the reason why we go down to the WTC memorial site, it's about the respect and solidarity that we all share for all the people we lost that day. The internet was still rather new then, but many of us recall that day, especially on Viper forums as threads grew hour-by-hour as to what had happened, how we felt and what we could do.

It's truly eye opening to be there, not only do we tour the site and honor the fallen but I can vividly remember watching people line up, take pictures, wave and give us thumbs up as we made our way back to New Jersey. For a few moments we put smiles on faces and a cool memory for so many.

Thanks Ed, yeah guys this is all over social media also. We need this year's event more than ever. We made a commitment to raise funding for Tuesday's Children, we are going for an actual NYC permit to avoid red-light tickets, and better more extensive police escorts.

We need everyone to not only kick in and be there rain or shine, but we need lots of word of mouth to spread quick in the hopes of generating some serious sponsorships. Time is gonna fly and we have lots to get done!

Had a great conference call tonight with Tuesday's Children. I'll let Ed chime in, but we can't stress enough how important it is to register so we have a definate head count for a number of reasons:
1. The Stickers are being made up for the cars.
2. The NYPD is counting on a substantial showing to warrant our permit and to shut down intersections just for us.
3. Bobby needs to plan how many are meeting up in Jersey and heading through the tunnel - which by the way as we get closer - this might be THE meeting place to get your stickers and set up the cars, and Bobby needs to know to what extent we have to reserve the garage in the Battery once we get down there.
4. And MOST of all: Tuesday's Children is Counting on our commitment to support the work they do for all those First responders who are still with us, as well as those who sacrificed their lives and left behind families who need so much continued support and appreciation.

Good question - the plan was to keep it Viper only, as we only have about 30 spots to fill. If it doesn't look like we will get there, then we can open it up. If you have a close friend with something exotic send me or Andrew a PM and we can do it case-by-case for this week at least...

We are making enough to place them on each car that participates... hence the time-crunch to get our head count settled ASAP so we know how many to make.

If anyone knows of a company that wants that kind of exposure, please get them involved right away! Could be millions of social media impressions created by Vipers driving through Manhattan.

Guys the response to this has picked up so well in the last few days, THANK YOU to everyone who has jumped in!!

We are up to 39 cars who have donated to participate AND we have a few larger donations from some private, club, and corporate sponsors, so we have raised some really nice $ for Tuesday's Children. There is still a little room for the last few fence-riders, but we need to know by end of the day Thursday so please post up and follow the link in this thread to sign up.

WE WILL BE MEETING between 7 and 7:30am SATURDAY at Subway Strip Mall Plaza; 10 Meadowlands Parkway; Secaucus, NJ 07094

The larger sponsorships included branding packages, so everyone will have a few stickers to put on the car at this meeting spot. if you miss it here, we will hook you up at the Javits center. We have a former regional president and graphics/printing company owner creating the stickers; don't worry they will go on-and-off without any trouble.

I want to thank all those that put together this event. It was an honor to be part of this amazing show of support. This was the first time that I had visited the museum and saw the completed Freedom Tower up close. It was truly a humbling experience. We will never forget.
