Hi guys, just spreading the word that WannaGOFAST released the dates for this years Chicago 1/2 mile heads up racing. They are doing two events this years and both will be a two day event.
June 21-22nd, 2014
&
October 11-12th, 2014
I actually work with WannaGOFAST and help out with running the speed system/set-up/tear down. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this information here. If I am, please delete this thread.
I don't know when the registration will open up, but will update this thread when I know.
If you were there last year, chances are I met you and I tried to talk to all the viper owners but it was pretty crazy for us considering the weather that was there. Hopefully I will meet some new viper owners this year as well. If you have never been to one of these events, I highly reccomend it. Several cars last year went over 200mph in the 1/2, including a GTR that did 214. Fastest viper was around 190 (TT widebody, treesnake on the other forum).
Heres the video from last years event:

Actually was just discussing this with my officers. We have a couple people who attende4d and I asked them to get information. There is a possibility given the timing that we may make one of these days (preferably the June date) a club gathering. We typically do our own thing, but we may dovetail this into one of our get togethers. These guys like to go fast...
Someone from our group is reaching out to you guys. We heard there could be the opportunity to get our own hanger if we have enough cars? PM me with details and I can put our planners in touch with you. Definitely the type of event we like. We heard about it last year.

I was there last year and it was a great time trying to get faster each pass. Lots of fast cars. If you need any help, Alex let me know.

Thanks Anthony, I'll ping you if needed. We've reached out to them and see what we come up with. I think our gang would have a good time at this.

Hopefully it will work out with getting the viper club there. I would love to sneak away at lunchtime and meet all of you.
If any of you are on the fence about racing, here's a couple things to think about.
- There is really no comparison to these AWD cars for the top speeds, RWD cars just dont get the traction needed on a runway (good or bad I guess)
- We were sending down a set of cars about every 40-50sec. So while it might seem like a lot of cars there, you can get anywhere from 3-15 runs. Every event is different and it really depends on how fast the drivers want to get back in the staging lanes.
- You can do a dig or roll start. We have a tree like the 1/4 tracks.
- You will get a print out with your speed on it.
Here are the speeds that I have seen with vipers
- Stock gen III is usually around 138-143mph
- Stock gen IV is usually around 143-150mph
- Fully built N/A gen III did 163mph
- Gen III with paxton and wing (my car) did 154mph
- TT cars are all over the map. Usually they have traction issues
One more thing. Blake (owner) is the best person to reach out to, and it soundsl like you already did. If you have any questions about how the event runs and what to expect, please let me know. I will do my best to answer your questions and if I don't have the answer, I will talk to Blake and get the answers for you.

I ran at their event in Carabelle FL before they branched out to Chicago and Georgia. It was one heck of a good time. Most fun i have had in my car. I highly recommend this event. Blake is top notch. ;)

Registration opens up at midnight tonight for the June 21-22nd event. I hope to see a few vipers out there. I won't have my car there, but don't be suprised if I stop by and ask about your cars.

We decided not to make it a club event due to some logistics. I'm interested to here (and see videos) of your runs!

I'm glad to see some of you are signing up. On Sunday last year a guy in a Chevy truck had around 15 runs. He literally did a pass and went back into the staging lane over and over. I wish I could tell you exactly how many runs you will get but there are so many variables to consider.

Fixed.....:o
It was nice to meet you NINJAKRIS. This was you handing me the time slip at the end of the vid....

There are several "tricks" to running these runway events. One is that a rolling start is really starting from a dig 75' from the tree.
I learned this from the Supra in the video. He "looked" to be way ahead of me at the finish.
However his trap speed was only 3 mph faster than mine....?
In other words if you are doing this event and racing from a roll start, NAIL it from the start...:anonymous:
Hope to see some more Vipers this year....:dude3:
