I have been looking at a lot of different console and guage surrounds out there. I was leaning tword the printed route. Was not too happy with hydro carbon thinking it still looks pretty fake. I could do real carbon fiber but the budget is not there for that right now. So I decided to try some 3M Di-Noc. It is a textured vinal that looks and feels like carbon fiber. Picked up this roll from eBay. $45 for a 2' x 4' section, not bad for an experiment. Makes for a good winter project too.

Here we are all taken apart and ready to go. There are a lot of turns and holes to fill. It will be a little challenging from the videos that I have watched.

It wasn't too bad. Just took my time and used the heat gun carefully in the bends. I an happy with how it turned out. Looks and feels real. Took about an hour and a half for the guage surround. The console will be next but I have to think about what I'm gonna do with the cup holder. I will never get it down to the bottom without tearing. Stay tuned for that. Maybe tomorrow. :)

So does the heat gun actually make the material shrink?
I can't believe you were able to get all those rounds without getting any puckered material left on one. Everything is completely smooth. Nice job!

No puckering at all. It stretches really nice with a little heat. I have a small rear in the first guage surround that I did but you can't see it where if is located. The other three came out great.

Well I think you made the right choice. It looks way better than the hydro.

Wow..!
Is that the first time you have wrap'd something..?

Looks GREAT...!!!

Di-Noc is some cool stuff. Especially if you know what you are doing...

(My car. Not me doing the install. I'm not that talented....:))

Yup, first time I have ever done anything. I learned few things from this first go at it. Will be faster and better on the lower console piece.

Your hood looks great wrapped. Goes really nice with the blue.

I wonder how it would look if a paint shop clear coated it.

Today, I finished up the lower console piece. Much easier to do this piece now that I have some experience with this stuff. My odd also kicked in and I had to match the weave for the power point. It bothers me when they are not matched to the other pieces. I also added new shifter boot and e-brake cover with red stitching.

Now it's time to start swapping out the bulbs to LED's

How are you trimming this stuff? Like the holes for the gauges.

That looks amazing! Just added another item to the never ending list.. Where did you get the new stitched shift and e boots?

I bought them from VPA. They are stock Mopar pieces. I also picked up a brand new Final Edition red stitched steering wheel off of eBay. The seats will be next.
