Picked her up 8pm last night. 5pm today, driving home, involved in a 3 car collision. Van hit a VW that was behind me, and slammed into my bumper. Ugh. Banged up the bumper, the diffuser, and the carbon fiber trim.

And the driver who caused the accident didn't have valid insurance or registration. Fortunately, he was on the job and had the company logo plastered on the side. So I have someone to sue if necessary. Ugh.

I haven't personally gone for Diminished but a buddy has twice. It's a real pain in the ass but I would say worth it in this situation. I'm so sorry for the OP, I have been waiting to see pics of the car once you received it. That had to be the most sick feeling, I feel sick thinking about how you must feel.

I think it is all good, after talking to the company and the CHP - they just didn't have the paperwork in the van. It's a decent sized company, now that I've done some research online, so I'm sure they'll sort it out.

California is a diminished value state. Not sure how much, but it ought to be significant in this case, as it's based on the expected price before and after.

Oh man, definitely need to look into haveing insurance cover a Prefix repair if at all possible, maybe ship them the body panels? Hopefully replacement parts are available. Sorry to hear, sucks after waiting for the car for months and having to have it repaired immediately.

With respect to diminished value:

I've done it twice, once successfully, once not so much. It has a lot to do with extensive the damage was and what the car is worth. When my truck was T-boned, it caused frame damage and the insurance company paid diminished value - it was a hassle, but they did eventually pay. However, my 2015 Porsche was rear-ended with only 2000 miles on the clock - it was minor damage, similar to the damage on your car. Diminished value wasn't paid; it's VERY hard to prove value was diminished for an accident so minor.

Have the company agree to pay you $$$$ dollars to fix, no insurance, no accident report, hence no disminished value, nothing on the cars record and everyone wins. You may have to sign a waiver to the company removing your right to pursue legal later and even offer to do that. Then get fixed at Prefix yourself. You will be in control the entire time. The company doesn't want a safety related incident in their record as well so they will be more than willing to do that.

That is what I would do and have done in the past on a Porsche vehicle I had when it was minor rear end bumped in a snow storm. Worth a try.

Diminished value claims will have a better chance if the accident will show on Carfax and also depends on what it'll say. Ex: moderate, severe, minor etc.

We got 15k for a Gran Tutismo with damage on both doors. You have to push your insurance carrier as well. I believe you have uninsured motorist so its their reaponsability.

Good luck and i can pull Carfax for you to see what it shows.

Tell them you want to send the bumper to Prefix. You would be surprised the damage that occurs in a few mph. I got hit at a light and the Cherokee I was driving had $2500 damage underneath.

Seriously, a nightmare comes to mind... feel for you. I know insurance needs estimates, but I'd be in panic mode right now trying to figure out how to hide the damage before the holiday weekend and so on. Are there deep impressions or dings in the parts you mentioned?

What a bummer. I feel for you. The good news is that the paint is nice and fresh (no fading - easier to match) and the exact same parts that you need for repair are still being built, so with a Prefix repair, your car will be as good as new and you'll never see the damage. Good luck and get it back on the street soon.

Honestly, I'm not terribly worried/panic'd/pissed. Annoyed, yes. Insurance will take care of it. Prefix will repaint the bumper, and the carbon trim and diffuser will be replaced. Mechanically the car is fine. Trunk still opens/closes perfectly and the gaps/offsets are still good everywhere.

But I'm allowed to come here to bitch about bad luck :~)>

And it's still going to the track on tuesday.

Just got off the phone with the person's insurance company. They've already accepted responsibility and are now just waiting on me to provide the estimate. And they will pay some diminished value claim, but depends on the estimate.

Man that sucks! By the way, if you need the name of a shop that does high end paint work, I had my 2013 Stryker Red repaired by them. Beautiful work, you cannot tell it was repaired. New nose piece, hood and nose piece painted to ensure a perfect blend with the other body panels. Perfect paint match to the tri-step Stryker color, which is no small feat. PM me if you'd like the info.

I tried to have my insurance ship body panels to Prefix, unsuccessfully, They insisted on a local repair. Geico sucks. But in the end, the car looks perfect.

I was fairly compensated for DV when my GTR was hit, it took a lot of work on my side though. Whenever the car is repaired, try to get a buy bid from a dealer. That will tell you the loss. The number will probably make you sick.

My condolences. I'm already getting nervous myself. I live in south Florida, the geezer capital of the world (I can say that cause I'm one of them even though I DO NOT drive like them). I've got a 2017 ordered and it will probably arrive just in time for snowbird season. Anyway, I sure hope the repair goes as planned and the best of luck to you.
