Hey guys , I just purchased a 2014 GTS Stryker , 5800 km , with most of the carbon options. I have been hunting for a year and change , sold my mazdarx7 which was modified to the 320 whp level roughly . I know this car is a beast and will bite you if you don't respect it , was hoping for some driving tips as I have never handled anything this powerful . Likely not modding for this summer . Just gonna enjoy !!!
Beautiful ride, congrats.

Supposed to rain for the next week here so likely no pretty photos for a while , anyway nice to finally have one of these . I actually prefer the gen 2 GTS body the best but I'm happy with this .

Congrats. I love the color.
When I was shopping for my Gen V I had a friend who was pushing me to find that color.

Congratulations!!!! Driving tips: leave all the nannies on, be aware of cold tires and loss of traction, if you matte the throttle, and the car starts to go sideways, counter steer and take your foot off the throttle ;) , make sure you have a lot of space in front of you if you do put your foot into it, and lastly, stuff doesn't really start happening until 4000 rpm, so if you're on the hwy and want to pass someone, I usually go from 6th to 3rd which puts me right at 4000 rpm for the pass. Enjoy.
PS: I've driven my car in both rain and snow...........rain is doable with good tread on the tires without any trouble at all, snow is ill advised ;)

Best Viper driving tip, especially first timers;
Get her pointed straight before you give it the full enchilada!

Congrats, that's awesome!
Your tires are not old yet with a 2014, but be ready to replace those when they get hard, not just when the tread wears out.
I've yet to drive a GenV, and I know the technology can help in some circumstances but physics and good driving habits don't change with the Gens.
First tip is to not mess around with it in close-quarters as others have said.. provide the "just-in-case" room around yourself.
Second is to be aware that the Viper is manageable when it's on the right line and your inputs are smooth... that's not something that develops overnight. Take it to HPDE or Autocross days to work on it! If a ride-along instructor is available, always take advantage of that.
Third - always small bites - add throttle, steering and braking in small bites as you grow with the car, and keep your expectations in line with that... It's really more about controlling yourself at the start.
Have a ton of fun with it!

I always read about new owners asking for "driving tips" for the Viper. It's not one of the best handeling cars in the world for no reason. Any mistakes that lead to a crash is almost always driver error. So my advice is recognize and adhere to your own limits and skill level. The Viper for me at least has been one of the easiest cars to keep straight.
Just my humble opinion.

Love it! Sure you will have a fun summer. Watch out for the photo takers. They just don't pay attention as you drive by or they try to catch up to you.

No problemo. Enjoy the car :) I bought my Viper having progressed from a Honda S2000 then a heavily modified WRX STi. I still own those two as well. The STi was kind of a cool car because as I modified it and made it more powerful I also improved my driving skills. That car is now putting out over 400 hp, so it wasn't too big a leap to the Viper in some respects, but being as it is AWD, that changes things a lot. Still, I drive that one in the winter, so 400hp+ on snow and ice makes up for the advantage of AWD. Anyway, I guess my point is, you have some experience with your RX 7, so this is just stepping it up to the next level. You simply apply all of the skills and common sense you've acquired with that car to the Viper, and keep in mind that you need more space etc. etc. You'll have a blast and feel comfortable with the car before you know it. Cheers.

Thanks for all the replys and kind words . Done about 5 hours in the car now , no races but some solid 5000 rpm shifts and some nice long sweepers on the freeway . All traction assist is still on . Brakes are amazing , not as amazing as the throttle though . Slowly getting used to the attention the car gets . After many years with jap cars and a few BMW's , I'm am really blown away at how tight the overall package feels . No regrets here . Thx again guys .

After having a Supra for sure this thing is easy to keep straight. Lol in all honesty I totally agree with 7th... Gen V vipers are very well behaved even compared to a stock C6Z or a C7Z. Enjoy it and like he said.. Don't try to drive out of comfort zone. In time you'll master the car.
